description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Conference object , Part of book or chapter of book 2016 FrancePublisher:Springer International Publishing Wenhua Zhu; Dexian Wang; Benoît Eynard; Matthieu Bricogne; Sébastien Remy;Part 4: Building Information Modeling (BIM); International audience; Large-scale 3D city building models have been widely used in urban planning, intelligent transportation, military simulation and other fields. The traditional ways of modeling generally have common problems such as low efficiency, waste of manpower and time consumption. How to find a rapid approach to automatically complete large-scale 3D modeling is a very hot research topic. In this paper we propose a novel approach of procedural modeling of buildings with CityEngine, which is combined with ArcGIS technology for the geographic information. This approach produces extensive architectural 3D models with high visual quality and geometric details at low cost. It includes following two contents concretely. At first, directly writing computer generated architecture (CGA) shape grammar to complete procedural modeling of building and other objects. Secondly, using facade modeling based on two-dimensional images to generate architectural model as well as creating high geometry details. It is validated that this novel approach of procedural modeling is a significant step forward that reduces a lot of modeling times by CGA shape grammars.

International audience; CAD systems have undergone enormous progress. They are becoming more and more intelligent and automated. But mechanical products are also more and more complex. which makes their management more delicate, and especially the management of associations and the propagation of changes affecting one of the components in systems designed using Computer-Aided Design software’s. Therefore, to propagate this change easily, it is important to predict the Change Propagation Path. In this context, this paper focus on a mothed based on establishing correspondences between the assembly Components features to facilitate the associations reconciliation and then change propagation. Thanks to this method, by specifying the affected features in one component, it is easy to predict which other features (in other assembly parts) are likely to be affected too. To this end, the authors proposed an Association Reconciliation Algorithm as well as a Correspondences Algorithm which are mainly based on the assembly mates, the topological and geometrical relationships existing between components. The results of those algorithms will be used later one to determine the change propagation paths and the change propagation tree.

Such infrastructures use alarms, event and fault information, which is recorded to help diagnose and repair failure conditions by operations experts. This data can be analysed using explainable artificial intelligence to attempt to reveal precursors and eventual root causes. The proposed method is first applied to synthetic data in order to prove functionality. With synthetic data the framework makes extremely precise predictions and root causes can be identified correctly. Subsequently, the method is applied to real data from a complex particle accelerator system. In the real data setting, deep learning models produce accurate predictive models from less than ten error examples when precursors are captured. The approach described herein is a potentially valuable tool for operations experts to identify precursors in complex infrastructures.

At least two sometimes complementary and colliding threads have emerged. The first focuses on the development of pragmatic tools for increasing the transparency of automatically learned prediction models, as for instance by deep or reinforcement learning. The second is aimed at anticipating the negative impact of opaque models with the desire to regulate or control impactful consequences of incorrect predictions, especially in sensitive areas like medicine and law. The formulation of methods to augment the construction of predictive models with domain knowledge can provide support for producing human understandable explanations for predictions. This runs in parallel with AI regulatory concerns, like the European Union General Data Protection Regulation, which sets standards for the production of explanations from automated or semi-automated decision making. Despite the fact that all this research activity is the growing acknowledgement that the topic of explainability is essential, it is important to recall that it is also among the oldest fields of computer science. In fact, early AI was re-traceable, interpretable, thus understandable by and explainable to humans. The goal of this research is to articulate the big picture ideas and their role in advancing the development of XAI systems, to acknowledge their historical roots, and to emphasise the biggest challenges to moving forward.

One of the remaining problems, in this domain, resides in the data aggregation solutions, which are proposed generally for one application and may drain the WSN power in a multi-application context. Therefore, we propose a data aggregation scheme based on a multi-agent system to aggregate the WSN information in an energy-efficient manner even if we are deploying several applications over this network. This proposal has proved its performance in the context of one and several applications through successive simulations in different network scales.

These include plasmonic sensors that transduce analyte-dependent changes to localized refractive index, vibrational Raman signatures, or fluorescence intensities at the sensor interface. One of the key challenges, however, remains in producing such sensors reliably, at low cost, using manufacturing compatible techniques. In this chapter, we demonstrate an approach based on molecular self-assembly to deliver wafer-level fabrication of nanoplasmonic interfaces, with spatial resolutions down to a few nanometers, assuring high quality and low costs. The approach permits systematic variation to different geometric variables independent of each other, allowing the significant opportunity for the rational design of nanoplasmonic sensors. The ability to detect small molecules by SERS-based plasmonic sensing is compared across different types of metal nanostructures including arrays of nanoparticle clusters, nanopillars, and nanorod and nanodiscs of gold.

The problem is tackled as a zoning localization where the objective is to determine the zone where the mobile sensor resides at any instant. The proposed approach uses the belief functions theory to define an evidence framework, for estimating the most probable sensor's zone. Real experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach as compared to other localization methods.

However, although there is a growing body of work on scaffolded tools, scaffold design, and the impact of scaffolding, the field has not yet converged on a common theoretical framework that defines rationales and approaches to guide the design of scaffolded tools. In this article, we present a scaffolding design framework addressing scaffolded software tools for science inquiry. Developed through iterative cycles of inductive and theory-based analysis, the framework synthesizes the work of prior design efforts, theoretical arguments, and empirical work in a set of guidelines that are organized around science inquiry practices and the challenges learners face in those practices. The framework can provide a basis for developing a theory of pedagogical support and a mechanism to describe successful scaffolding approaches. It can also guide design, not in a prescriptive manner but by providing designers with heuristics and examples of possible ways to address the challenges learners face. However, these models are not suitable for the energy constrained WSNs because they assumed the whole data is available in a central location for further analysis. In this paper, we propose Distributed and Efficient One-class Outliers Detection Classifier (DEOODC) based on Mahalanobis Kernel used for outlier detection in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). For this case, the task amounts to create a useful model based on KPCA to recognize data as normal or outliers. Recently, Kernel Principal component analysis (KPCA) has used for nonlinear case which can extract higher order statistics. Kernel PCA (KPCA) mapping the data onto another feature space and using nonlinear function. On account of the attractive capability, KPCA-based methods have been extensively investigated, and have showed excellent performance. Within this setting, we propose Kernel Principal Component Analysis based Mahalanobis kernel as a new outlier detection method using Mahalanobis distance to implicitly calculate the mapping of the data points in the feature space so that we can separate outlier points from normal pattern of data distribution. The use of KPCA based Mahalanobis kernel on real word data obtained from Intel Berkeley are reported showing that the proposed method performs better in finding outliers in wireless sensor networks when compared to the One-Class SVM detection approach. All computation are done in the original space, thus saving computing time using Mahalanobis Kernel.

description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Conference object , Part of book or chapter of book 2016 FrancePublisher:Springer International Publishing Wenhua Zhu; Dexian Wang; Benoît Eynard; Matthieu Bricogne; Sébastien Remy;Part 4: Building Information Modeling (BIM); International audience; Large-scale 3D city building models have been widely used in urban planning, intelligent transportation, military simulation and other fields.
