    International audience; Protected cultivation or Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) system has increased tenfold in the last 25 years thanks to tremendous scientific and technical breakthroughs, mainly directed to increasing crop yields and adapting to tough ambient conditions. Currently, greenhouse areas are still spreading and the CEA system is one of the keystones for the agriculture forecasting scenario. However, the environmental acceptability of this very intensive agro-ecosystem is now being questioned. Energy inputs are source of the main economic and environmental weakness, especially for high-tech greenhouses, where IPM is well-established. Pesticides, common in low-cost greenhouses systems, are a major barrier-to IPM. To design and manage more robust CEA systems, both technological and ecological approaches have been chosen. This allowed for increased consideration of IPM issues among global greenhouse engineering innovation and better use of greenhouse system capacities to enhance dedicated IPM high-tech tools and management practices. On the other hand, ecological concepts were used to determine and characterize complex biotic interactions that lead to question the tenant of biological control as soon as IPM is implemented in greenhouses with sub-optimum physical pest control means. More specifically, microclimate at the boundary layer level has been investigated both from a physical and biological point of view in order to determine the best climate preferences of the main pests and beneficials. By the same token, the efficiency of diverse biocontrol plants to provide accurate shelter to natural enemies has been assessed

    Cette communication présente un modèle d’évaluation de la vulnérabilité sociale au risque inondation dans les zones protégées par des digues. Ce modèle articule trois échelles d’analyse. Une échelle macrosociologique porte sur les tendances économiques et socio-démographiques afin d’évaluer la vulnérabilité de grandes unités territoriales cohérentes. L’échelle mésoscopique fait référence à l’espace de groupes sociaux et de regroupements humains cohérents. A cette échelle, on privilégie le recours à l’enquête par questionnaires auprès de ménages en zone inondable. La méthodologie proposée s’oriente en particulier vers une approche comportementaliste afin d’évaluer la propension des individus à s’exposer au risque, en fonction également de leurs capacités d’adaptation, de leurs connaissances de l’inondation, des actions préventives adoptées par les ménages, etc. Enfin, à l’échelle microsociologique, au moyen d’entretiens semi-directifs, l’approche développée tente de cerner les conditions et restrictions à la mise en oeuvre de méthodes quantitatives pour l’évaluation de la vulnérabilité sociale. Toward a socio-anthropological approach for assessing the social vulnerability of areas protected by the Rhone river dams. A three-scaled model is assumed to estimate the social vulnerability of leveed areas. A macro scale refers to the economic and socio-demographic trends that allow to assess the vulnerability of coherent large urban areas. A meso scale refers to homogenous communities or social groups. At this scale, the assessment of vulnerability proceeds by questionnaire surveys of households in flood risk areas. The methodology especially adopts a behavioral approach trying to estimate the propensity of people to self-exposure to risks, risk-taking practices, adaptive capacities, knowledge of flood process, the mitigation actions undertaken by householders, etc. At a micro scale, thanks to semi-structured interviews the methodology tries to assess the conditions and the restrictions to an assessment of vulnerability by means of quantitative methods. Part 4: Building Information Modeling (BIM); International audience; Large-scale 3D city building models have been widely used in urban planning, intelligent transportation, military simulation and other fields. The traditional ways of modeling generally have common problems such as low efficiency, waste of manpower and time consumption. How to find a rapid approach to automatically complete large-scale 3D modeling is a very hot research topic. In this paper we propose a novel approach of procedural modeling of buildings with CityEngine, which is combined with ArcGIS technology for the geographic information. This approach produces extensive architectural 3D models with high visual quality and geometric details at low cost. It includes following two contents concretely. At first, directly writing computer generated architecture (CGA) shape grammar to complete procedural modeling of building and other objects. Secondly, using facade modeling based on two-dimensional images to generate architectural model as well as creating high geometry details. It is validated that this novel approach of procedural modeling is a significant step forward that reduces a lot of modeling times by CGA shape grammars.

    Authors: Viallefont-Robinet, Françoise;

    A large amount of remote sensing images is now available and can be used to derive precious information about the earth. Among the information, the soil moisture is an important one. Besides microwaves, on the optics side, this has motivated research on relationship between soil reflectance and surface moisture leading to models, indices and spectral properties such as soil line. Indeed, drawing the reflectance in a near-infrared spectral band as a function of a visible spectral band reflectance, usually close to the red, for various moisture states of a soil leads to a line, called the soil line. Such a line has been observed and qualitatively explained but the theoretical physically-based explanation remains uncomplete. Thanks to the MARMIT optical model, such a line is linked to physical parameters and its slope and offset are expressed. This is a first step towards the exploitation of the soil line for surface moisture assessment.; Une grande quantité d'images de télédétection sont maintenant disponibles et peuvent être utilisées pour obtenir de précieuses informations sur la terre. Parmi ces informations, l'humidité du sol est importante. ceci a motivé les travaux de recherche sur la relation existant entre la réflectance du sol et l'humidité de surface, travaux conduisant à des modèles, des indices et des propriétés spectrales telle que la droite des sols. En effet, si l'on trace la réflectance pour une bande spectrale du proche infrarouge en fonction de la réflectance pour une bande spectrale dans le visible, habituellement proche du rouge, pour différents niveaux d'humidité du sol, on obtient une droite, appelée droite des sols. Cette droite a été tout d'abord observée puis expliquée qualitativement mais l'explication physique plus théorique est demeurée incomplète. Grâce au modèle optique MARMIT, cette droite est reliée à des paramètres physiques et l'expression de sa pente et de son offset sont déterminées. Ce travail est une première étape vers l'utilisation de la droite des sols pour l'estimation de l'humidité de surface.

    International audience; The ability to evaluate wheel-rail adhesion of trains on rail tracks is important in various fields of Intelligent Transportation System ITS: Environment Perception, Safety and Driver Support, Automatic Driving, Transport Management. Adhesion is degraded when rails are polluted. Each pollution material has its proper impact on adhesion. Moreover, each material (due to its composition) reflects the light in its own way, allowing it to differentiate itself from others. In this paper we will characterise recurrent rail pollutant using a custom light and spectrometer system and associate each spectrum with an adhesion or friction coefficient.

    International audience; We analyse the flux density variation associated to low frequency (LF) broadcasting transmitters observed by the ICE electric field experiment onboard DEMETER micro-satellite, observed from 01st Jan. to 09th Dec. 2010. We select five stations localised around the Mediterranean and the Black seas: Tipaza (252 kHz, 02°28’E, 36°33’N, Algeria), Roumoules (216 kHz, 06°08’E, 43°47’N, Monte Carlo), Polatli (180 kHz, 32°25’E, 39°45’N, Turkey), Nadour (171 kHz, 02°55’W, 35°02’N, Morocco) and Brasov (153 kHz, 25°36’E,45°40’, Romania). The detection of the LF transmitter signals by DEMETER micro-satellite is found to depend on the radiated power, the emitted frequency, and the orbit paths with regard to the location of the stations. This leads us to characterise the reception condition of the LF signals and to define time intervals where the detection probability is high. We show that LF signal are regularly recorded, each 12 days, when the satellite is above the broadcasting station. The signal intensity levels are principally significant during the solar activity. Hence we find that the solar and the geomagnetic activities are slightly correlated to the maxima of LF signal as recorded by DEMETER. Also we note a drop of the intensity level several days before the occurrence of earthquakes in/around the Mediterranean and Black seas.

    International audience; Marvejols is a small town located in Lozère (France). Traditionally, the region was poor with an agricultural oriented economy. However, by the 1960s a new type of business was launched: the residential care facilities for disabled people, especially in relation to Jacques Blanc, a key person in the organization and development of this business. This economic activity brought jobs and new attractiveness, counterbalancing decline in traditional sectors. Nevertheless, currently, situation is less favourable, and the local players try to find out a new strategy, particularly in relation to diversification. In this study, our main aim was to understand conditions of starting and growing of this business. Moreover, we would like to understand current fragilities and attempts to adapt the economy of the territory. In this way, our students and we have chosen this area in relation to the economic and historical weight of its activity. The organization of field trips and survey was conducted in a comprehensive approach perspective. Therefore, we took account parameters working in this territory, such as strategies, psychologies (individual and collective), networks and identities. Human dimensions are strong, especially in discourses, and our main result is a better understanding of the local situation, with comparisons to close cases (Corrèze, Creuse). Furthermore, the quality of the geographical analysis provides working relations with the stakeholders

    International audience; This paper contributes to the understanding of the use of digital technologies in agriculture. It aims to highlight the different factors of the adoption of these digital technologies in agriculture. The theoretical framework of the research is based on two well-known models of adoption of new technologies (TAM and TOE). The authors propose a model combining the previous two. A bibliometric analysis of several articles dealing with digital adoption in agriculture was then conducted. It allows to refine the proposed model, by selecting the most relevant variables.

    The growing number of people at old ages (demographic change) entails more age-related deficits and diseases. One of them is dementia, a complex neurodegenerative syndrome, which affects patient's cognitive abilities (e.g. short-term memory, attention, problem-solving, language, and spatiotemporal orientation). As the people with dementia (PwD) get difficulty in using technology (explicitly control system), our research was aiming at context-awareness and implicit interaction using automatic/adaptive lighting via the internet of things. In this paper, we present our preliminary work and examples of applications in using lighting in dementia care context.

    Authors: Viallefont-Robinet, Françoise;
