To the best of our knowledge, this work presents the first protocol that allows one of the parties to delegate PSI-CA computation to untrusted servers. At the heart of our delegated PSI-CA protocol is a new oblivious distributed key PRF (Odk-PRF) abstraction, which may be of independent interest.

We first adapt standard techniques available for affine (time-varying) systems to the considered class of systems, which leads to new linear matrix inequality-based conditions for the design of the estimator gains. We then explain how to derive decoupled estimators in the sense that the state and the parameter estimates are generated by cascaded switched differential equations, which is numerically more efficient and thus easier to implement in practice. A first solution is presented, which generates state estimates with jumps at the switching instants. To overcome this potential issue, two "bumpless" strategies are proposed. The first one relies on a persistency of excitation (PE) condition, while the the second one applies to a given class of switching rules and avoids the PE condition. Both estimation strategies ensure the global exponential convergence to zero of the estimation errors. The results are illustrated on a model describing the behavior of a DC-DC power converter.

Although the methodology applies to general scenarios, the present work focuses on a situation with an asymmetric observation structure that only involves two agents. More precisely, one of the agents knows the past, present, and future realizations of a state (the system state) that affects the common payoff function of the agents; in contrast, the second agent is assumed either to know the past realizations of the system state or to have no knowledge of it. In both cases, the second agent has access to some strictly causal observations of the first agent's actions, which enables the two agents to coordinate. These scenarios are applied to the problem of distributed power control; the key idea is that a transmitter may embed information about the wireless channel state into its transmit power levels so that an observation of these levels, e.g. the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio, allows the other transmitter to coordinate its power levels. The main contributions of this paper are twofold. First, we provide a characterization of the set of feasible average payoffs when the agents repeatedly take long sequences of actions and the realizations of the system state are \acs{iid}. Second, we exploit these results in the context of distributed power control and introduce the concept of coded power control. We carry out an extensive numerical analysis of the benefits of coded power control over alternative power control policies, and highlight a simple yet non-trivial example of a power control code. International audience; An algorithm for voltage sag detection based on rectified voltage processing is presented and its performances are evaluated by means of simulated and real voltage waveforms (recorded at some Low Voltage busbars and measured on a scaled prototype of a voltage support system). The algorithm is intended to detect voltage sag occurrence and to trigger the disconnection of the faulty supply network and subsequently the connection of a voltage support system. The algorithm is very convenient in terms of memory storage and computational requirements and may be implemented on low cost platforms. The results show that the time for detection is very short and always less than a quarter of the supply voltage period.

While convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are gaining increasing attention in image analysis, it is still challenging to adapt them to produce fine-grained classification maps. This is due to a well-known trade-off between recognition and localization: the impressive capability of CNNs to recognize meaningful objects comes at the price of losing spatial precision. We here propose an architecture that addresses this issue. It learns features at different levels of detail and also learns a function to combine them. By integrating local and global information in an efficient and flexible manner, it outperforms previous techniques.

To model proof assistants, however, strong evaluation and open terms are required. Open call-by-value is the intermediate setting of weak evaluation with (possibly) open terms, on top of which Grégoire and Leroy designed one of the abstract machines of Coq. This paper provides a theory of abstract machines for the fireball calculus, the simplest presentation of open call-by-value. The literature contains machines that are either simple but inefficient, as they have an exponential overhead, or efficient but heavy, as they rely on a labeling of environments and a technical optimization. We introduce a machine that is simple and efficient: it does not use labels and it implements the fireball calculus within a bilinear overhead. Moreover, we provide a new fine understanding of how different optimizations impact on the complexity of the overhead, and evidence that the time cost model we work with is minimal.

The traditional ways of modeling generally have common problems such as low efficiency, waste of manpower and time consumption. How to find a rapid approach to automatically complete large-scale 3D modeling is a very hot research topic. In this paper we propose a novel approach of procedural modeling of buildings with CityEngine, which is combined with ArcGIS technology for the geographic information. This approach produces extensive architectural 3D models with high visual quality and geometric details at low cost. It includes following two contents concretely. At first, directly writing computer generated architecture (CGA) shape grammar to complete procedural modeling of building and other objects. Secondly, using facade modeling based on two-dimensional images to generate architectural model as well as creating high geometry details. It is validated that this novel approach of procedural modeling is a significant step forward that reduces a lot of modeling times by CGA shape grammars.

They consist of time-domain extensions of the FastICA algorithms developed by Hyvarinen and Oja for instantaneous mixtures. They perform a convolutive sphering in order to use parameter- free fast fixed-point algorithms associated with kurtotic or negentropic non-Gaussianity criteria for estimating the source innovation processes. We prove the relevance of this approach by mapping the mixtures into linear instantaneous ones. Test results are presented for artificial colored signals and speech signals.

AbstractThis paper introduces an integrative approach to hedonic house price modeling which utilizes high density 3D airborne laser scanning (ALS) data. In general, it is shown that extracting exploratory variables using 3D analysis – thus explicitly considering high-rise buildings, shadowing effects, etc. – is crucial in complex urban environments and is limited in well-established raster-based modeling. This is fundamental in large-scale urban analyses where essential determinants influencing real estate prices are constantly missing and are not accessible in official and mass appraiser databases. More specifically, the advantages of this methodology are demonstrated by means of a novel and economically important externality, namely incoming solar radiation, derived separately for each flat. Findings from an empirical case study in Vienna, Austria, applying a non-linear generalized additive hedonic model, suggest that solar radiation is significantly capitalized in flat prices. A model comparison clearly proves that the hedonic model accounting for ALS-based solar radiation performs significantly superior. Compared to a model without this externality, it increases the model’s explanatory power by approximately 13% and additionally reduces the prediction error by around 15%. The results provide strong evidence that explanatory variables originating from ALS, explicitly regarding the immediate 3D surroundings, enhance traditional hedonic models in urban environments.

Different strategies have been proposed, the main challenge being the computing cost induced by complex microstructures exhibiting nonlinear behaviors. Two quite tricky scenarios lie in (i) the necessity of applying the homogenization procedure for many microstructures (e.g. material microstructure evolving at the macroscopic level or stochastic microstructure); the second situation concerns the homogenization of nonlinear behaviors implying the necessity of solving microscopic problems for each macroscopic state (history independent nonlinear models) or for each macroscopic history (history dependant non-linear models). In this paper we present some preliminary results concerning the application of Proper Generalized Decompositions for addressing the efficient solution of homogenization problems. This numerical technique could allow to compute the homogenized properties for any microstructure or for any macroscopic loading history by solving a single but highly multidimensional model. The PGD allows circumventing the so called curse of dimensionality that mesh based representations suffer. Even if this work only describes the firs steps in a very ambitious objective , many original ideas are launched that could be at the origin of impressive progresses.

We first adapt standard techniques available for affine (time-varying) systems to the considered class of systems, which leads to new linear matrix inequality-based conditions for the design of the estimator gains. We then explain how to derive decoupled estimators in the sense that the state and the parameter estimates are generated by cascaded switched differential equations, which is numerically more efficient and thus easier to implement in practice. A first solution is presented, which generates state estimates with jumps at the switching instants. To overcome this potential issue, two "bumpless" strategies are proposed. The first one relies on a persistency of excitation (PE) condition, while the the second one applies to a given class of switching rules and avoids the PE condition. Both estimation strategies ensure the global exponential convergence to zero of the estimation errors. The results are illustrated on a model describing the behavior of a DC-DC power converter.

Although the methodology applies to general scenarios, the present work focuses on a situation with an asymmetric observation structure that only involves two agents. More precisely, one of the agents knows the past, present, and future realizations of a state (the system state) that affects the common payoff function of the agents; in contrast, the second agent is assumed either to know the past realizations of the system state or to have no knowledge of it. In both cases, the second agent has access to some strictly causal observations of the first agent's actions, which enables the two agents to coordinate. These scenarios are applied to the problem of distributed power control; the key idea is that a transmitter may embed information about the wireless channel state into its transmit power levels so that an observation of these levels, e.g. the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio, allows the other transmitter to coordinate its power levels. The main contributions of this paper are twofold. First, we provide a characterization of the set of feasible average payoffs when the agents repeatedly take long sequences of actions and the realizations of the system state are \acs{iid}. Second, we exploit these results in the context of distributed power control and introduce the concept of coded power control. We carry out an extensive numerical analysis of the benefits of coded power control over alternative power control policies, and highlight a simple yet non-trivial example of a power control code. International audience; An algorithm for voltage sag detection based on rectified voltage processing is presented and its performances are evaluated by means of simulated and real voltage waveforms (recorded at some Low Voltage busbars and measured on a scaled prototype of a voltage support system). The algorithm is intended to detect voltage sag occurrence and to trigger the disconnection of the faulty supply network and subsequently the connection of a voltage support system. The algorithm is very convenient in terms of memory storage and computational requirements and may be implemented on low cost platforms. The results show that the time for detection is very short and always less than a quarter of the supply voltage period.

While convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are gaining increasing attention in image analysis, it is still challenging to adapt them to produce fine-grained classification maps. This is due to a well-known trade-off between recognition and localization: the impressive capability of CNNs to recognize meaningful objects comes at the price of losing spatial precision. We here propose an architecture that addresses this issue. It learns features at different levels of detail and also learns a function to combine them. By integrating local and global information in an efficient and flexible manner, it outperforms previous techniques.

To model proof assistants, however, strong evaluation and open terms are required. Open call-by-value is the intermediate setting of weak evaluation with (possibly) open terms, on top of which Grégoire and Leroy designed one of the abstract machines of Coq. This paper provides a theory of abstract machines for the fireball calculus, the simplest presentation of open call-by-value. The literature contains machines that are either simple but inefficient, as they have an exponential overhead, or efficient but heavy, as they rely on a labeling of environments and a technical optimization. We introduce a machine that is simple and efficient: it does not use labels and it implements the fireball calculus within a bilinear overhead. Moreover, we provide a new fine understanding of how different optimizations impact on the complexity of the overhead, and evidence that the time cost model we work with is minimal.

The traditional ways of modeling generally have common problems such as low efficiency, waste of manpower and time consumption. How to find a rapid approach to automatically complete large-scale 3D modeling is a very hot research topic. In this paper we propose a novel approach of procedural modeling of buildings with CityEngine, which is combined with ArcGIS technology for the geographic information. This approach produces extensive architectural 3D models with high visual quality and geometric details at low cost. It includes following two contents concretely. At first, directly writing computer generated architecture (CGA) shape grammar to complete procedural modeling of building and other objects. Secondly, using facade modeling based on two-dimensional images to generate architectural model as well as creating high geometry details. It is validated that this novel approach of procedural modeling is a significant step forward that reduces a lot of modeling times by CGA shape grammars.

They consist of time-domain extensions of the FastICA algorithms developed by Hyvarinen and Oja for instantaneous mixtures. They perform a convolutive sphering in order to use parameter- free fast fixed-point algorithms associated with kurtotic or negentropic non-Gaussianity criteria for estimating the source innovation processes. We prove the relevance of this approach by mapping the mixtures into linear instantaneous ones. Test results are presented for artificial colored signals and speech signals.

AbstractThis paper introduces an integrative approach to hedonic house price modeling which utilizes high density 3D airborne laser scanning (ALS) data. In general, it is shown that extracting exploratory variables using 3D analysis – thus explicitly considering high-rise buildings, shadowing effects, etc. – is crucial in complex urban environments and is limited in well-established raster-based modeling. This is fundamental in large-scale urban analyses where essential determinants influencing real estate prices are constantly missing and are not accessible in official and mass appraiser databases. More specifically, the advantages of this methodology are demonstrated by means of a novel and economically important externality, namely incoming solar radiation, derived separately for each flat. Findings from an empirical case study in Vienna, Austria, applying a non-linear generalized additive hedonic model, suggest that solar radiation is significantly capitalized in flat prices. A model comparison clearly proves that the hedonic model accounting for ALS-based solar radiation performs significantly superior. Compared to a model without this externality, it increases the model’s explanatory power by approximately 13% and additionally reduces the prediction error by around 15%. The results provide strong evidence that explanatory variables originating from ALS, explicitly regarding the immediate 3D surroundings, enhance traditional hedonic models in urban environments.

Different strategies have been proposed, the main challenge being the computing cost induced by complex microstructures exhibiting nonlinear behaviors. Two quite tricky scenarios lie in (i) the necessity of applying the homogenization procedure for many microstructures (e.g. material microstructure evolving at the macroscopic level or stochastic microstructure); the second situation concerns the homogenization of nonlinear behaviors implying the necessity of solving microscopic problems for each macroscopic state (history independent nonlinear models) or for each macroscopic history (history dependant non-linear models). In this paper we present some preliminary results concerning the application of Proper Generalized Decompositions for addressing the efficient solution of homogenization problems. This numerical technique could allow to compute the homogenized properties for any microstructure or for any macroscopic loading history by solving a single but highly multidimensional model. The PGD allows circumventing the so called curse of dimensionality that mesh based representations suffer. Even if this work only describes the firs steps in a very ambitious objective , many original ideas are launched that could be at the origin of impressive progresses.
