This document includes the UX questionnaire developed within the DARIAH-FI research infrastructure. The questionnaire was created and updated in several phases between 2022-2023 from semi-structured interviews, a literature review and tests with end-users.

DARIAH Data Policy outlines the basic principles for managing and sharing research data within the DARIAH infrastructure and beyond. The policy targets both data producers and data providers, encourages the use of open formats and community standards, acknowledges the diversity of options for data publishing, and puts forward practical recommendations for publishing DARIAH-affiliated data in trustworthy repositories and making them discoverable through the OpenAIRE-Graph.

Libraries worldwide are investing a significant portion of their resources in digitising their collections. Digitised formats are immensely valuable for researchers but may seem dry and unappealing to broader audiences, particularly when the original content was intended for children. This talk will present the preliminary research conducted on digitised formats of popular children's literature found in specialised libraries, focussing on the models provided by two institutions: the British Library's "Turning the Pages" software and the National Library of Spain's "Madgazine," used in the interactive editions of Don Quixote and Leonardo da Vinci’s Madrid Codex. The discussion will revolve around the specific workflow we tested for creating a digitally enhanced edition of a collection of stories entitled "Plage of Dragons," published in 1923 and based on the Spanish adaptations of Edith Nesbit’s tales. This document includes information regarding the educational materials relevant to the DARIAH-FI research infrastructure and guidance on which courses might be relevant to use its resources more efficiently. The document also includes an overview of the state of the digital humanities and computational social sciences education in Finland.

This document is intended to serve as an initial guide for collecting user experience data from workshops and training sessions related to the resources developed by the FIN-CLARIAH consortium.

This deliverable builds on and further extends the findings of D6.1 "Inventory of existing data sources and formats" surveying the landscape of literary corpora, as well as D8.1 "Tools for NLP" cataloguing the set of tools in the context of CLS. Focusing on the wealth of formats used when encoding and processing text, it offers a comprehensive overview of common formats for encoding textual data, beyond the "lingua franca", TEI, both in the domain of computational literary studies and computational linguistics, highlighting potential discrepancies in the approach between these two areas of research. The overview reveals a very heterogeneous landscape with a plethora of formats, devised for differing tasks, from philological encoding of historical text material, to computational annotation and processing of text. Considering interoperability an indispensable key to reusability, the deliverable explores the challenges and approaches converting between formats. This information compilation is considered input for further developing the Transformation Matrix, introduced in D6.1, which shall serve as a conceptual framework to consolidate existing solutions for format conversion in the Transformation Toolbox to be delivered by the end of the project (D6.2). The Transformation Matrix shall allow to capture information about specific data structures (features) present in datasets as well as data structures required or produced by tools. This requires a sufficiently expressive formalised description, which is proposed in the CLSCor data model.

The distributed and polymorphic nature of DARIAH as a consortium, and its social and technical components as an infrastructure makes it pertinent to define its perimeter. This is especially true with respect to the various resources that are created and used in its environment. The term “DARIAH resource” does not indicate direct ownership or control by the DARIAH consortium over that resource but rather it being created and/or used within the broad DARIAH ecosystem, i.e. some actor (person or institution) related to DARIAH being involved in the creation or provision of that resource. A large majority of DARIAH resources are produced or offered byindividual institutions in the member countries and reported by their respective national consortia. Besides that, there are resources produced under DARIAH activities by DARIAH Working Groups, funded by DARIAH Theme or by DARIAH and affiliated entities within EU projects.

What makes our idea effective, rewarding and useful? This was the question addressed during a workshop session Digital humanities, citizen science and the arts: synergies towards innovative formats at the COESO project conference entitled Connect. Collaborate.Create (18-21 October 2023 in Paris). The session was an opportunity to present the assumptions of the OPERAS Innovation Lab and the methods it wants to develop in the area of evaluating innovative projects.
