Given the dynamic rate of change in the OA books business models landscape, the OPERAS Open Access Business Models Special Interest Group launched a survey in 2021 to 1) improve our understanding of the scholarly publishing landscape and of the challenges that publishers face in the context of publishing OA monographs; and 2) to identify main trends (including opportunities and challenges) and the knowledge of collaborative funding and infrastructure models in OA publishing in Social Science and the Humanities. This white paper updates and expands an earlier version published in 2021, which presented the preliminary analysis of the findings. Despite a small sample of presses meaning that no strong trends ought to be discussed, several insights were drawn and should be considered important directions for the future. Key findings in the report have been grouped into three main areas: collaboration, funding, and support. The report found that, although not opposed to the idea, a majority of presses do not engage in collaboration, specifically collaborative models for shared infrastructure, mainly due to the lack of knowledge and information, or perceived lack of need. This indicates that, for OA books, we are still at the early stage of the adoption curve for collaborative shared infrastructure. In terms of funding, most publishers perceive themselves to be somewhat sustainable. For institutional publishers, parent organisations are crucial as providers of financial or non-monetary support of OA. In addition, most publishers stress the need to have more resources and rely on more than one funding source, including grants and subsidies. The report found that awareness-raising and targeted support and training could be used to engage the presses but further incentivisation may be required to encourage publishers to collaborate more widely. We believe that the insights from this white paper may be interesting to a number of projects, such as DIAMAS, OPERAS-PLUS, and Palomera and have presented areas for further research and more specific actionable points for these projects.

"Community Building" ist in den letzten Jahren zum Schlagwort, aber ebenso auch zu einem (Analyse-)Instrument geworden, um Vernetzungs- und Arbeitsprozesse anzuregen, zu ordnen, zu koordinieren und nachvollziehbar zu machen. Das Panel möchte den Möglichkeiten von Begriff und Programmatik nachgehen und die theoretischen und pragmatischen Potenziale der Nationalen Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (Konsortium NFDI4Culture) und ihren Fachcommunities beleuchten. Wir definieren dazu sowohl Schnittmengen als auch Schnittlinien (d.h. Grenzbereiche) und verweisen in der Diskussion auf Trainings- und Ausbildungsszenarien, die nicht nur von einer Einrichtung allein geleistet werden können, sondern sich entlang von Forschungsdateninfrastrukturen bewegen. Dabei werden Fragen nach fachspezifischen und generischen Formaten wie auch inter-konsortiale Vernetzungsbemühungen mittels Querschnittssektionen und forschungsnahen Leitthemen von Interesse sein. O presente documento consiste na sistematização de diretrizes e contribuições para os próximos anos de gestão do patrimônio cultural brasileiro. O documento foi compilado pelo Grupo de Trabalho (GT), designado no âmbito do Fórum de Entidades em Defesa do Patrimônio Cultural Brasileiro, para dialogar com o Gabinete de Transição “Cultura” do Governo Lula.

SSHOC-NL is a collaboration between the social sciences and humanities that is cutting edge and unparalleled internationally. It will make it possible for researchers to securely and ethically link and analyse a huge range of data such as historical records, text data, images, survey data, and social media data. This will help them address some of the most pressing issues that society faces such as polarisation, social inequalities, and our changing environment. These issues are complex and require lots of different perspectives to be brought together in order to find solutions. SSHOC-NL builds the infrastructure for researchers to do that. This document is the grant proposal submitted to NWO Large-Scale Research Infrastructure: National Roadmap consortia 2021.

Launched in 2006 and officially founded as an ERIC (European Research Infrastructure Consortium) in 2014, DARIAH has long held a place in the SSH Research Landscape. These first years were focused more on the construction of our international research infrastructure and of the various national consortia, as well as policy and advocacy on behalf of our communities. DARIAH also served, and continues to serve, as an excellent incubator for European project grants and the creation of project consortia. In the last two years, however, DARIAH has reached a new phase of maturity, with better organizational processes, developed services, and a stronger network of humanities researchers across Europe and beyond. These efforts are headlined notably by the SSH Open Marketplace and DARIAH Campus platforms, discovery platforms for tools and services, and pedagogical materials, respectively. Joining with the existing, grassroots and researcher-led Working Groups, DARIAH now has multiple means of enabling research in social sciences and humanities in a way that is visible to the individual researcher. DARIAH’s evolution presents an interesting use case in building a digital research infrastructure on a European scale, showing how to put in place infrastructural components and know-how to help advance the cause of SSH research in an increasingly digital and changing research landscape.

Diese Handreichung erläutert Schritt für Schritt die Möglichkeit, Dienste und Werkzeuge unter dem Dach des Vereins Geistes- und Kulturwissenschaftliche Forschungsinfrastrukturen (GKFI e.V.) in den SSH Open Marketplace einzupflegen. Entstanden ist dies aus einer Initiative von DARIAH-EU und DARIAH-DE zur eindeutigen Identifizierung und zur Pflege von Ressourcen aus diesem ERIC. Siehe dazu related IDs.

DER NACHLASS STEFAN ZWEIGS UND SEINE ÜBERLIEFERUNG Der österreichische Schriftsteller Stefan Zweig (1881–1942) erlangte insbesondere mit seinen Novellen und Biographien Weltruhm. Nicht zuletzt durch seinen Gang ins Exil ergab sich für seinen schriftlichen Nachlass eine Verteilung auf zahlreiche öffentliche und private Sammlungen und somit eine komplizierte und teilweise unübersichtliche Überlieferungslage. Aufgrund dessen standen Originalmanuskripte und weitere Materialien eines der auflagenstärksten und meistübersetzten deutschsprachigen Autoren des 20. Jahrhunderts trotz anhaltendem Interesse an seinem Werk bisher nur eingeschränkt zur Verfügung. Das Literaturarchiv Salzburg bewahrt seit 2014 eine der größten Sammlungen von Materialien aus dem Nachlass Stefan Zweigs auf, darunter über 50 Manuskripte und Typoskripte sowie mehr als ein Dutzend Werknotizbücher und seine sämtlichen bekannten Tagebücher. Dieser wertvolle Bestand wird nun im Rahmen des Projekts STEFAN ZWEIG DIGITAL einer weltweiten Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Mit der Einrichtung dieser erweiterbaren digitalen Präsentation ist zugleich die Basis für zukünftige Transkriptionen und wissenschaftliche Bearbeitungen des Quellenmaterials geschaffen. Gleichzeitig sind auch Werkmanuskripte und Typoskripte Stefan Zweigs aus den umfangreichen Sammlungen der Daniel A. Reed Library der State University of New York in Fredonia und der National Library of Israel in das System aufgenommen worden. Damit ist der auf diese Institutionen aufgeteilte literarische Nachlass Zweigs, der all jene Dokumente umfasst, die sich bis zu seinem Tod in seinem Besitz befanden, erstmals in seiner Gesamtheit katalogisiert und erschlossen worden. INHALTE UND ZUGÄNGE Das in STEFAN ZWEIG DIGITAL unter Verwendung etablierter Katalogisierungsstandards für Archive und Bibliotheken erfasste Material ist mit weitreichenden Beschreibungen und Verknüpfungen versehen, die ganz unterschiedliche Zugänge zur Beantwortung wissenschaftlicher Fachfragen wie auch für die interessierte Öffentlichkeit bieten. So stehen für die Recherche neben den Katalogen eine biographische Übersicht sowie ein Index der Personen und Standorte mit über 700 Einträgen zur Verfügung. Hinzu kommt das Verzeichnis der erhaltenen Bücher aus Zweigs Bibliothek, das einen wichtigen Einblick in die von ihm wahrgenommene, gelesene und als Quelle für seine Werke genutzte Literatur bietet. Zusätzlich werden hochwertige digitale Faksimiles der Werke und Lebensdokumente zur Verfügung gestellt, die online durchblättert werden können. Während klassische archivarische und bibliothekarische Erschließungsmaßnahmen im Hinblick auf die Komplexität von Schriftstellernachlässen oftmals an Grenzen stoßen, sind die Kontextualisierung und Semantisierung der Objekte in STEFAN ZWEIG DIGITAL potentiell immer weiter ausbaubar und flexibel verknüpfbar. Das Einbinden der Daten und Metadaten aus verschiedenen Sammlungen wird schließlich eine weitreichendere virtuelle Rekonstruktion des Gesamtnachlasses ermöglichen, welche die Originalquellen und ihren ursprünglichen Entstehungszusammenhang in einzigartiger Breite und Tiefe erfahrbar macht.

The Reception Reader is a web tool for studying text reuse in the Early English Books Online (EEBO-TCP) and Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO) data. Users can: 1) explore a visual overview of the reception of a work, or its incoming connections, across time based on shared text segments, 2) interactively survey the details of connected documents, and 3) examine the context of reused text for "close reading". We show examples of how the tool streamlines research and exploration tasks, and discuss the utility and limitations of the user interface along with its current data sources.
