Six different PED research and innovation projects are investigating the types and expectations of citizen engagement. They evaluate the impact of energy citizenship on the success of PED deployment across Europe.

The concept of community energy has gained acceptance and popularity within academic and scientific communities, in addition to public debate forums. Community energy drives socio-economic transformations, as it places the citizen and the community as the main actors in the entire energy value chain, based on the principle of local and autonomous generation of energy by and for the community. In this article, we analyze the socio-economic impact of community energy as a strategy for energy inclusion and participation in the industrial, socio-economic and human development of communities in developing countries, especially those in sub-Saharan Africa. The community energy model discussed is based on the symbiotic interaction between social strata within local communities, the so-called community energy symbiosis. In addition, it was concluded that the concept of community energy is generally advantageous, but should be implemented by adapting it to each context, as regulation and government support vary significantly, especially in developing nations.

The comparison of trace variants of business processes opens the door for a fine-grained analysis of the distinctive features inherent in the executions of a process in an organization. The current approaches for trace variant analysis do not consider the situation where a process model is present, and therefore, it can guide the derivation of the trace variants by considering high-level structures present in the process model. In this paper we propose a fresh alternative to trace variant analysis, which proposes a generalized notion of trace variant that incorporates concurrency and iteration. This way, the analyst may be relieved from analyzing trace variants that are essentially the same, if these aspects are disregarded. We propose a general algorithm for model based trace variant analysis which is grounded in encoding the problem into SAT, and a family of heuristic alternatives including a very light sampling technique that represents a good trade-off between quality of the trace variants identified, and the complexity of the analysis. All the techniques of the paper are implemented in two open-source tools, and experiments with publicly available benchmarks are reported. These transfers depend on their thermophysical characteristics as well as the ambient humidity and temperature conditions. In such environment, and despite these variations, the material must be able to ensure in a sustainable manner, the functions for which it was implemented (thermal, mechanical, acoustic …). Among these materials, hemp concrete, which is a bio-based material, is widely considered in building construction for its superior thermal and hygroscopic performance. The hygrothermal modelling of such materials in real conditions is essential for a better understanding of buildings’ energy performances. Several works targeted the numerical hygrothermal modelling of hemp concrete; however most of them are done in controlled laboratory conditions, which may be different from the real buildings scenarios. In this paper, heat and mass transfer are investigated both numerically and experimentally in real conditions. The hygrothermal properties of hemp concrete were first determined through laboratory experiments; then, an experimental wall segment made of hemp concrete was instrumented in real ambient conditions in order to validate the Philip and De Vries model describing heat and mass transfer. The comparison of the numerical results to the experimental data leads to interesting results regarding local temperature and relative humidity variations. Moreover, numerical investigation of the moisture buffer values of hemp concrete was performed and the results were validated by bibliographic data. The hemp concrete was found to be a very interesting potential hygrothermal regulation material in terms of thermal conductivity , decrement factor, time lag, and humidity regulation.

Brahim; Abdul Qayyum; Alain Lalande; Arnaud Boucher; Anis Sakly; Fabrice Meriaudeau;Abstract Objectives: In this work, a new deep learning model for relevant myocardial infarction segmentation from Late Gadolinium Enhancement (LGE)-MRI is proposed. Moreover, our novel segmentation method aims to detect microvascular-obstructed regions accurately. Material and methods: We first segment the anatomical structures, i.e., the left ventricular cavity and the myocardium, to achieve a preliminary segmentation. Then, a shape prior based framework that fuses the 3D U-Net architecture with 3D Autoencoder segmentation framework to constrain the segmentation process of pathological tissues is applied. Results: The proposed network reached outstanding myocardial segmentation compared with the human-level performance with the average Dice score of ‘0.9507’ for myocardium, ‘0.7656’ for scar, and ‘0.8377’ for MVO on the validation set consisting of 16 DE-MRI volumes selected from the training EMIDEC dataset. Conclusion: It is concluded that our approach's extensive validation and comprehensive comparison against existing state-of-the-art deep learning models on three annotated datasets, including healthy and diseased exams, make this proposal a reliable tool to enhance MI diagnosis.

These security issues are challenging because IoT protocols are heterogeneous, suit different needs, and are used in different application domains. From this assessment, we identify the need to provide a homogeneous formalism applying to every IoT protocols. In this survey, we describe a generic approach with twofold challenges. The first challenge we tackle is the identification of common principles to define a generic approach to compare IoT protocol stack. We base the comparison on five different criteria: the range, the openness of the protocol, the interoperability, the topology and the security practices of these IoT protocols. The second challenge we consider is to find a generic way to describe fundamental IoT attacks regardless of the protocol used. This approach exposes similar attacks amongst different IoT protocols and is divided into three parts: attacks focusing on packets (passive and active cryptographic attacks), attacks focusing on the protocol (MITM, Flooding, Sybil, Spoofing, Wormhole attacks) and attacks focusing on the whole system (Sinkhole, Selective forwarding attacks). It also highlights which mechanisms are different between two protocols to make both of them vulnerable to an attack. Finally, we draw some lessons and perspectives from this transversal study.

In this kind of society, knowledge must be considered as a capital shared not only with experts, but also with citizens, within the target of sustainable development. After studying those concepts, the scope is to examine how human knowledge and artificial intelligence can be combined in geographic knowledge systems, essentially based on machine-processable knowledge and the concept of rules. Several geospatial rules are detailed in order to distinguish several categories implying locational issues. Then, a general structure for geographic knowledge base systems is given together with some fundamental elements for an infrastructure in which human collective intelligence is a key-element. To conclude this paper, a research agenda is given to integrate urban and regional management into the knowledge society.

Grid-connected systems must ensure grid stability, accommodate low voltage ride-through capability, and comply with grid codes under unbalanced voltage dips to avoid any grid-disconnection. In this context, this paper proposes a novel control strategy to improve grid-connected inverter control under unbalanced grid voltage conditions. Positive and negative sequence components of grid voltage are estimated using an augmented state and disturbance observer. The estimated values of grid voltage and phase-angle are used to protect the inverter from any over-current tripping even at unbalanced grid voltage dips. This can be achieved by reducing active power and suppressing its fluctuations with new current references, which are obtained in the synchronous reference frame according to grid codes. The effectiveness and flexibility of the proposed power control strategy have been demonstrated by numerical simulation and validated by experiments in both balanced and unbalanced grid fault conditions.

Smeaton;Using a collection of publicly available links to short form video clips of an average of 6 seconds duration each, 1,275 users manually annotated each video multiple times to indicate both long-term and short-term memorability of the videos. The annotations were gathered as part of an online memory game and measured a participant's ability to recall having seen the video previously when shown a collection of videos. The recognition tasks were performed on videos seen within the previous few minutes for short-term memorability and within the previous 24 to 72 hours for long-term memorability. Data includes the reaction times for each recognition of each video. Associated with each video are text descriptions (captions) as well as a collection of image-level features applied to 3 frames extracted from each video (start, middle and end). Video-level features are also provided. The dataset was used in the Video Memorability task as part of the MediaEval benchmark in 2020. Comment: 11 pages

The econometric procedure focuses on three singular years marked by significant negative oil prices shocks: 2008 (the global financial crisis), 2014 (the sharp drop in prices due to the boom of US shale oil), 2020 (Covid-19 economic downturn). To analyze the linkages between oil and fuel prices, we use the ARDL bounds testing approach of cointegration with weekly data between January 7, 2005 and October 30, 2020. We find that over the entire period, fuel distributors report increases in oil prices more than decreases. We find that this asymmetry is highest in 2008. Our paper provides some policy recommendations based on our findings.

The concept of community energy has gained acceptance and popularity within academic and scientific communities, in addition to public debate forums. Community energy drives socio-economic transformations, as it places the citizen and the community as the main actors in the entire energy value chain, based on the principle of local and autonomous generation of energy by and for the community. In this article, we analyze the socio-economic impact of community energy as a strategy for energy inclusion and participation in the industrial, socio-economic and human development of communities in developing countries, especially those in sub-Saharan Africa. The community energy model discussed is based on the symbiotic interaction between social strata within local communities, the so-called community energy symbiosis. In addition, it was concluded that the concept of community energy is generally advantageous, but should be implemented by adapting it to each context, as regulation and government support vary significantly, especially in developing nations.

The comparison of trace variants of business processes opens the door for a fine-grained analysis of the distinctive features inherent in the executions of a process in an organization. The current approaches for trace variant analysis do not consider the situation where a process model is present, and therefore, it can guide the derivation of the trace variants by considering high-level structures present in the process model. In this paper we propose a fresh alternative to trace variant analysis, which proposes a generalized notion of trace variant that incorporates concurrency and iteration. This way, the analyst may be relieved from analyzing trace variants that are essentially the same, if these aspects are disregarded. We propose a general algorithm for model based trace variant analysis which is grounded in encoding the problem into SAT, and a family of heuristic alternatives including a very light sampling technique that represents a good trade-off between quality of the trace variants identified, and the complexity of the analysis. All the techniques of the paper are implemented in two open-source tools, and experiments with publicly available benchmarks are reported. These transfers depend on their thermophysical characteristics as well as the ambient humidity and temperature conditions. In such environment, and despite these variations, the material must be able to ensure in a sustainable manner, the functions for which it was implemented (thermal, mechanical, acoustic …). Among these materials, hemp concrete, which is a bio-based material, is widely considered in building construction for its superior thermal and hygroscopic performance. The hygrothermal modelling of such materials in real conditions is essential for a better understanding of buildings’ energy performances. Several works targeted the numerical hygrothermal modelling of hemp concrete; however most of them are done in controlled laboratory conditions, which may be different from the real buildings scenarios. In this paper, heat and mass transfer are investigated both numerically and experimentally in real conditions. The hygrothermal properties of hemp concrete were first determined through laboratory experiments; then, an experimental wall segment made of hemp concrete was instrumented in real ambient conditions in order to validate the Philip and De Vries model describing heat and mass transfer. The comparison of the numerical results to the experimental data leads to interesting results regarding local temperature and relative humidity variations. Moreover, numerical investigation of the moisture buffer values of hemp concrete was performed and the results were validated by bibliographic data. The hemp concrete was found to be a very interesting potential hygrothermal regulation material in terms of thermal conductivity , decrement factor, time lag, and humidity regulation.

Moreover, our novel segmentation method aims to detect microvascular-obstructed regions accurately. Material and methods: We first segment the anatomical structures, i.e., the left ventricular cavity and the myocardium, to achieve a preliminary segmentation. Then, a shape prior based framework that fuses the 3D U-Net architecture with 3D Autoencoder segmentation framework to constrain the segmentation process of pathological tissues is applied. Results: The proposed network reached outstanding myocardial segmentation compared with the human-level performance with the average Dice score of ‘0.9507’ for myocardium, ‘0.7656’ for scar, and ‘0.8377’ for MVO on the validation set consisting of 16 DE-MRI volumes selected from the training EMIDEC dataset. Conclusion: It is concluded that our approach's extensive validation and comprehensive comparison against existing state-of-the-art deep learning models on three annotated datasets, including healthy and diseased exams, make this proposal a reliable tool to enhance MI diagnosis.

These security issues are challenging because IoT protocols are heterogeneous, suit different needs, and are used in different application domains. From this assessment, we identify the need to provide a homogeneous formalism applying to every IoT protocols. In this survey, we describe a generic approach with twofold challenges. The first challenge we tackle is the identification of common principles to define a generic approach to compare IoT protocol stack. We base the comparison on five different criteria: the range, the openness of the protocol, the interoperability, the topology and the security practices of these IoT protocols. The second challenge we consider is to find a generic way to describe fundamental IoT attacks regardless of the protocol used. This approach exposes similar attacks amongst different IoT protocols and is divided into three parts: attacks focusing on packets (passive and active cryptographic attacks), attacks focusing on the protocol (MITM, Flooding, Sybil, Spoofing, Wormhole attacks) and attacks focusing on the whole system (Sinkhole, Selective forwarding attacks). It also highlights which mechanisms are different between two protocols to make both of them vulnerable to an attack. Finally, we draw some lessons and perspectives from this transversal study.

In this kind of society, knowledge must be considered as a capital shared not only with experts, but also with citizens, within the target of sustainable development. After studying those concepts, the scope is to examine how human knowledge and artificial intelligence can be combined in geographic knowledge systems, essentially based on machine-processable knowledge and the concept of rules. Several geospatial rules are detailed in order to distinguish several categories implying locational issues. Then, a general structure for geographic knowledge base systems is given together with some fundamental elements for an infrastructure in which human collective intelligence is a key-element. To conclude this paper, a research agenda is given to integrate urban and regional management into the knowledge society.

Grid-connected systems must ensure grid stability, accommodate low voltage ride-through capability, and comply with grid codes under unbalanced voltage dips to avoid any grid-disconnection. In this context, this paper proposes a novel control strategy to improve grid-connected inverter control under unbalanced grid voltage conditions. Positive and negative sequence components of grid voltage are estimated using an augmented state and disturbance observer. The estimated values of grid voltage and phase-angle are used to protect the inverter from any over-current tripping even at unbalanced grid voltage dips. This can be achieved by reducing active power and suppressing its fluctuations with new current references, which are obtained in the synchronous reference frame according to grid codes. The effectiveness and flexibility of the proposed power control strategy have been demonstrated by numerical simulation and validated by experiments in both balanced and unbalanced grid fault conditions.

Smeaton;Using a collection of publicly available links to short form video clips of an average of 6 seconds duration each, 1,275 users manually annotated each video multiple times to indicate both long-term and short-term memorability of the videos. The annotations were gathered as part of an online memory game and measured a participant's ability to recall having seen the video previously when shown a collection of videos. The recognition tasks were performed on videos seen within the previous few minutes for short-term memorability and within the previous 24 to 72 hours for long-term memorability. Data includes the reaction times for each recognition of each video. Associated with each video are text descriptions (captions) as well as a collection of image-level features applied to 3 frames extracted from each video (start, middle and end). Video-level features are also provided. The dataset was used in the Video Memorability task as part of the MediaEval benchmark in 2020. Comment: 11 pages

The econometric procedure focuses on three singular years marked by significant negative oil prices shocks: 2008 (the global financial crisis), 2014 (the sharp drop in prices due to the boom of US shale oil), 2020 (Covid-19 economic downturn). To analyze the linkages between oil and fuel prices, we use the ARDL bounds testing approach of cointegration with weekly data between January 7, 2005 and October 30, 2020. We find that over the entire period, fuel distributors report increases in oil prices more than decreases. We find that this asymmetry is highest in 2008. Our paper provides some policy recommendations based on our findings.
