The ERC funded project European Ars Nova aims to study the corpus of poetry in Latin, Italian and French set to music by the polyphonists of the so-called Ars Nova. Since one of the main research goals of the project is the comparative study of musical and poetic texts, we are currently developing a web application that will allow readers to visualize and interact with the TEI- and MEI-encoded editions of our corpus together. The adoption of MEI as the underlying format for the digital editions of the musical texts presented us with the challenge of designing an editing workflow that allowed us to critically edit the texts in a user-friendly software like Finale. In this article, we illustrate how the critical editions are transposed to MEI documents using an ad hoc tool developed within the project, and how they are visualized in the web application. Finally, we discuss the critical aspects of the workflow and possible next steps for our digital critical edition in relation to the state of the art of music encoding.

In the domain of Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAM) institutions, creative and innovative tools and methodologies for content delivery and user engagement have recently gained international attention. New methods have been proposed to publish digital collections as datasets amenable to computational use. Standardised benchmarks can be useful to broaden the scope of machine-actionable collections and to promote cultural and linguistic diversity. In this article, we propose a methodology to select datasets for computationally driven research applied to Spanish text corpora. This work seeks to encourage Spanish and Latin American institutions to publish machine-actionable collections based on best practices and avoiding common mistakes. This research has been funded by the AETHER-UA (PID2020-112540RB-C43) Project from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

This deliverable presents the outcome of the EOSC landscape and policy gap analysis in the countries covered by the project: Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain, Poland, Portugal and the United Kingdom. It formulates an initial set of recommendations for national and international stakeholders about the measures for alignment and harmonization of policies to facilitate the implementation of the EOSC. In this article, we present OntoDomLab-Med, a domain label ontology focused on medical and health sciences. We have developed a taxonomy from thelabels included in the list of abbreviations of the Dicionário da Língua Portuguesa Contemporânea of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences. Our goal is to connect OntoDomLab-Med to a set of selected entries from the dictionary which have been encoded in TEI Lex-0, a stricter and more suitable format than TEI for dictionary encoding, in line with the FAIR principles. The ontology, built with Protégé and represented in OWL, allows the knowledge to be exported using an interoperable exchange format, thereby enabling the ontology to be applied to different lexical resources and to various domains, regardless of the natural language being used. OntoDomLab-Med will be useful not only to research information by domain but it will also allow the lexicographer to be more consistent in his/her work as both researcher and coder of information for lexicographic purposes. This poster has been awarded with the Best Poster Award at DARIAH2020 virtual annual event https://twitter.com/dariaheu/status/1327290958971609090?s=21 In order to provide the global community of scholars working in this field with a greater understanding of the current Spanish scenario, LINHD has recently promoted a research on the evolution of Digital Humanities in Spain in the last 25 years, a timeframe comparable with Unsworth first formulation of scholarly primitives. More than 1,000 records have been mapped, distributed as follow: 577 researchers; 368 projects; 88 resources; 9 post-graduate courses; and 8 specialised journals. Digital resources (i.e. repositories of documents, collections of artefacts, crowdsourcing platforms, dictionaries, databases, etc.), which are the object of this poster, have been produced, most of the time, with the aim to publish a service to improve the basic of day-to-day research workflow in the Humanities. Our initial objectives were: to classify and describe the digital resources mapped according with the classical and new scholarly primitives, in order to highlight presences, absence and recurring associations of these categories; To visualize the relationships between scholarly primitives and other dimensions in our data, like discipline and typology. to identify how the introduction of digital tools and methods has affected the basic functions of research in the Humanities in Spain over time. For these two tasks, we use two systems: 1) DeLFT, a Deep Learning framework for text processing; 2) entity-fishing, generic named entity recognition and disambiguation service deployed in the technical framework of INRIA.

El discurso en las obras de F. M. Dostoievski lleva más de 150 años atrayendo la atención de numerosos especialistas, cada vez procedentes de ámbitos más dispares. Con la consolidación de las Humanidades digitales (HD) como espacio necesariamente interdisciplinar se han conseguido interesantes avances y no menos sugestivas propuestas que parecen arrojar luz sobre la interpretación de ciertas cuestiones narratológicas de las obras de este autor. En el presente estudio abordaremos el estado actual de la imbricación de las HD y los estudios literarios y mostraremos el potencial del análisis cuantitativo, las técnicas de visualización y el análisis de redes para el estudio de textos literarios y, en particular, de la obra literaria de Dostoievski. El discurs en les obres de F. M. Dostoievski porta més de 150 anys atraient l’atenció de nombrosos especialistes, cada vegada procedents d’àmbits més dispars. Amb la consolidació de les Humanitats digitals (HD) com a espai necessàriament interdisciplinari s’han aconseguit interessants avanços i no menys suggestives propostes que semblen llançar llum sobre la interpretació d’unes certes qüestions narratològiques de les obres d’aquest autor. En el present estudi abordarem l’estat actual de la imbricació de les HD i els Estudis literaris i mostrarem el potencial de l’anàlisi quantitativa, les tècniques de visualització i l’anàlisi de xarxes per a l’estudi de textos literaris i, en particular, de l’obra literària de Dostoievski. Discourse in Dostoevsky’s works has drawn the attention of numerous specialists in increasingly diverse fields for more than 150 years. As Digital Humanities (DH) become consolidated as an interdisciplinary space of research, interesting advances and proposals have been made that seem to shed new light on the interpretation of certain narratological questions in the works of this author. This contribution studies the current state of intersection of DH with Literary Studies and shows the potential of quantitative analysis, data visualization techniques and network analysis as applied to the study of literary texts and, particularly, the literary works Dostoevsky.

In order for the project to have an impact on the national policies and practices as well as the broader EOSC-related policy landscape, it is necessary to develop a coherent engagement strategy for the interactions with the key policy-level stakeholders. This document presents an analysis of the specific challenges of the current EOSC landscape, initial information and assumptions related to the organisational structures and dynamics the policy engagement approach is based on and the key processes and the mechanisms they will be assessed (and updated, if necessary) during the project lifetime.
