    Der Beitrag vermittelt einen berblick ber die Publikationsoptionen der Knstlerischen Forschung (Fokus: Gestaltung und Kunst) im deutschsprachigen Raum. Dabei wird zum einen auf Aspekte des Open Access eingegangen. Zum andern werden Herausforderungen angesprochen, die hnlich auch in anderen Disziplinen anzutreffen sind. Angesprochen wird die Anforderung genannt, mit und in Medien wie Bild, Klang, Video/Film oder Arrangements zu argumentieren, was Gestaltungsfreirume innerhalb der Publikationsmedien erfordert. Andere Schwierigkeiten zeigen sich bei der Aufnahme in bergeordnete Wissensportale. Nicht zuletzt spielt auch die Verfgbarkeit von Publikationsservern und institutionellen Repositorien eine Rolle. The article gives an overview of publication options currently available to artistic research (focus: art and design) in the German-speaking countries. On the one hand, aspects of Open Access are addressed. On the other hand, challenges are mentioned that can also be found in other disciplines. Addressed is e.g. the need to argue with and in media such as image, sound, video/film, or arrangements. This requires flexibilities while designing the publication. Other difficulties become apparent when it comes to acceptance in overarching knowledge portals. Last but not least, the availability of publication servers and institutional repositories plays a role.

    Authors: Kindling, Maxi;

    Der Beitrag behandelt das Thema Qualitätssicherung im Umgang mit digitalen Forschungsdaten. Es werden drei Ebenen herausgearbeitet, auf die sich die Qualitätssicherung beziehen kann: die der Forschungsdaten selbst, der Metadaten zur ihrer Erschließung sowie der Forschungs- daten-Infrastrukturen. Es erfolgt eine Annäherung an den Qualitätsbegriff im Kontext digitaler Forschungsdaten sowie an die qualitätssichernden Verfahren. Exemplarische nationale und internationale Initiativen werden vorgestellt, die Empfehlungen und Kriterien zu disziplinübergreifenden Aspekten der Qualitätssicherung formulieren. Zudem wird ein disziplinäres Beispiel aus der historischen Korpuslinguistik vorgestellt. Peer Reviewed

    Authors: Sahle, Patrick; Kronenwett, Simone;

    Auch in den Geisteswissenschaften werden Daten produziert, die dauerhaft gesichert und zugänglich gehalten werden müssen. Dieser Satz ist richtig, aber an der Stelle problematisch, an der von „Daten“ die Rede ist. Aus der Sicht der Geisteswissenschaften ist unklar, ob der allgemeine, derzeit gängige Datenbegriff die Situation in ihren Disziplinen wirklich treffend beschreibt und ob seine Konsequenzen die gleichen sind, wie auf anderen Feldern der Forschung. Dieser Beitrag geht von einer Spezifik geisteswissenschaftlicher Daten aus. Im Fokus steht das in diesen Disziplinen vorhandene Problem einer schwierigen Trenn- und Unterscheidbarkeit von Primär- und Ergebnisdaten. Der Artikel beschreibt die sich daraus ergebenden Konsequenzen für den Aufbau eines geisteswissenschaftlichen Datenzentrums am Beispiel des im Dezember 2012 gegründeten „Data Center for the Humanities“ (DCH) an der Universität zu Köln. Zu klären ist dabei unter anderem, was Forschungsdatenmanagement für die beteiligten Forscher und Projekte bedeutet und wie die Dauerhaftigkeit eben nicht nur von „Daten“, sondern von Forschungsleistungen insgesamt sichergestellt werden kann. Ausgehend von der Unterscheidung zwischen „Daten“ und „Ressourcen“ und der Frage, welche Leistungen von einem Datenzentrum eigentlich zu erwarten sind, wird der einerseits schichtenweise, andererseits modulare Aufbau des DCH begründet. Die vielfältigen Aufgaben, die sich bei der Sicherung der Forschung ergeben, lassen sich mit vier Paradigmen beschreiben, die einen begrifflichen Anschluss an die bestehenden Einrichtungen zur Sicherung des kulturellen Erbes ermöglichen. Ob dieser Anschluss nur metaphorisch ist, wenigstens eine didaktisch-erklärende Kraft hat oder sogar die Grundlage weiterer konzeptioneller Überlegungen sein kann, ist jenseits dieses Beitrages zu diskutieren. Even in the humanities data are produced that must be permanently secured and kept accessible. This sentence might be true, yet, going into details the problem occurs with the term "data". At the time being, from the perspective of the humanities it is not really clear what the term "data" actually means, how it is defined, and what belongs to it. This article reflects data specific in humanities research. Talking about research data in the humanities in general, the paper casts a light on the existing problem of separating so-called primary data from result data. Consequences for the setting up and development of a data center for the humanities are described by the example of the Cologne 'Data Center for the Humanities' (DCH). The meaning of research data management will be discussed especially with regard to the production of data and results as well as to the performances to be kept permanently secure and accessible. Based on the distinction between "data" and "resources" the design of the DCH is established in layers as well as in modules. The variety of tasks may be described by four paradigms borrowed from cultural heritage institutions.

    Authors: Krause, Thomas;

    Diese Dissertation beschreibt das Design und die Implementierung eines effizienten Suchsystems für linguistische Korpora. Das bestehende und auf einer relationalen Datenbank basierende System ANNIS ist spezialisiert darin, Korpora mit verschiedenen Arten von Annotationen zu unterstützen und nutzt Graphen als einheitliche Repräsentation der verschiedener Annotationen. Für diese Dissertation wurde eine Hauptspeicher-Datenbank, die rein auf Graphen basiert, als Nachfolger für ANNIS entwickelt. Die Korpora werden in Kantenkomponenten partitioniert und für verschiedene Typen von Subgraphen werden unterschiedliche Implementationen zur Darstellung und Suche in diesen Komponenten genutzt. Operationen der Anfragesprache AQL (ANNIS Query Language) werden als Kombination von Erreichbarkeitsanfragen auf diesen verschiedenen Komponenten implementiert und jede Implementierung hat optimierte Funktionen für diese Art von Anfragen. Dieser Ansatz nutzt die verschiedenen Strukturen der unterschiedlichen Annotationsarten aus, ohne die einheitliche Darstellung als Graph zu verlieren. Zusätzliche Optimierungen, wie die parallele Ausführung von Teilen der Anfragen, wurden ebenfalls implementiert und evaluiert. Da AQL eine bestehende Implementierung besitzt und diese für Forscher offen als webbasierter Service zu Verfügung steht, konnten echte AQL-Anfragen aufgenommen werden. Diese dienten als Grundlage für einen Benchmark der neuen Implementierung. Mehr als 4000 Anfragen über 18 Korpora wurden zu einem realistischen Workload zusammengetragen, der sehr unterschiedliche Arten von Korpora und Anfragen mit einem breitem Spektrum von Komplexität enthält. Die neue graphbasierte Implementierung wurde mit der existierenden, die eine relationale Datenbank nutzt, verglichen. Sie führt den Anfragen im Workload im Vergleich ~10 schneller aus und die Experimente zeigen auch, dass die verschiedenen Implementierungen für die Kantenkomponenten daran einen großen Anteil haben. This dissertation describes the design and implementation of an efficient system for linguistic corpus queries. The existing system ANNIS is based on a relational database and is focused on providing support for corpora with very different kinds of annotations and uses graphs as unified representations of the different annotations. For this dissertation, a main memory and solely graph-based successor of ANNIS has been developed. Corpora are divided into edge components and different implementations for representation and search of these components are used for different types of subgraphs. AQL operations are interpreted as a set of reachability queries on the different components and each component implementation has optimized functions for this type of queries. This approach allows exploiting the different structures of the different kinds of annotations without losing the common representation as a graph. Additional optimizations, like parallel executions of parts of the query, are also implemented and evaluated. Since AQL has an existing implementation and is already provided as a web-based service for researchers, real-life AQL queries have been recorded and thus can be used as a base for benchmarking the new implementation. More than 4000 queries from 18 corpora (from which most are available under an open-access license) have been compiled into a realistic workload that includes very different types of corpora and queries with a wide range of complexity. The new graph-based implementation was compared against the existing one, which uses a relational database. It executes the workload ~10 faster than the baseline and experiments show that the different graph storage implementations had a major effect in this improvement.

    Der Beitrag behandelt das Thema Qualitätssicherung im Umgang mit digitalen Forschungsdaten. Es werden drei Ebenen herausgearbeitet, auf die sich die Qualitätssicherung beziehen kann: die der Forschungsdaten selbst, der Metadaten zur ihrer Erschließung sowie der Forschungs- daten-Infrastrukturen. Es erfolgt eine Annäherung an den Qualitätsbegriff im Kontext digitaler Forschungsdaten sowie an die qualitätssichernden Verfahren. Exemplarische nationale und internationale Initiativen werden vorgestellt, die Empfehlungen und Kriterien zu disziplinübergreifenden Aspekten der Qualitätssicherung formulieren. Zudem wird ein disziplinäres Beispiel aus der historischen Korpuslinguistik vorgestellt. Peer Reviewed

    Authors: Sahle, Patrick; Kronenwett, Simone;

    Authors: Krause, Thomas;
