    International audience; Transient scattering of electromagnetic fields by perfect conductors is described by the time domain electric field integral equation (TD-EFIE). Discretizing this equation using a space-time Galerkin method results in a system of equations that can be solved by the marching on in time (MOT) algorithm. Unfortunately, the solution is plagued by spurious static currents (DC instability). In this contribution, a spatial Galerkin discretization is first applied to the TD-EFIE. Then, the discrete loop and star components of both basis and testing functions are separated using projection operators (thus avoiding the construction of a loop-star basis). The loop and star components are then rescaled with respect to each other by differentiating or integrating one of these components. This has the effect of removing the possibility for a DC signal to pollute the solution. A temporal Galerkin method then leads to a system that can be solved by the marching-on-in-time algorithm.

    COM; International audience; Environmental conditions are one of the most important factors that lead to the deterioration of salt contaminated stones or masonry materials. In particular, when environmental conditions such as humidity, exposure to rain or rising damp vary, salts in contact with water (liquid or vapour) can dissolve and cause damage to the material by crystallization upon drying. In this paper this challenging coupled problem is modelled improving the multiphase model developed in [1, 2]. The model - fully coupled, highly non-linear and time dependent - is referred to a Representative Elementary Volume, and takes as primary variables the relative humidity, the temperature, the mass fraction of the dissolved salt and the concentration of precipitated salt. This tool is used to simulate experiments [3] in which sodium chloride contaminated sandstones, put in contact with liquid water and water vapour until complete saturation, are dried at different humidities. The good agreement with experimental evidences proves the effectiveness of the proposed model.

    Authors: Daems, Joke; Chambers, Sally; Verbruggen, Christophe; Zere, Tecle;

    International audience; The digital text platform is part of the Flemish contribution to DARIAH Belgium (DARIAH = Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities). The goal is to create a platform for the collaborative management and discovery of digitised textual collections that allows digital humanities researchers to prepare their corpora (consisting of, for example, digitised newspapers and books) for textual analysis. The platform will enable researchers to browse and search the digitised collections compiled, cleaned, enriched and managed by the researchers themselves. Once the relevant research sub-corpus has been compiled, data export tools, using standardised open formats (such as XML, JSON, .csv, .txt, etc.) will enable researchers to export sub-corpus for analysis with existing digital text analysis tools such as MALLET, (http://mallet.cs.umass.edu/topics.php) for topic modelling, VOYANT (http://voyant-tools.org) for data visualisation or AntConC (http://www.laurenceanthony.net/software/antconc/) for concordance and textual analysis.The platform has been conceived as part of a larger and modular virtual research environment service infrastructure (http://www.ghentcdh.ugent.be/projects/dariah-vl_vre.si). In a previous phase, possible frameworks and content management systems were tested, notably Islandora (a digital asset management system based on Fedora Commons and Drupal), but also Mediawiki and Omeka.One of the main challenges of the envisaged new platform is the possibility to integrate a wider variety of possible textual data streams (including a scan workflow). In addition, user-friendliness, scalability, adherence to standards and facilitating the interoperability of data are key issues to be addressed. The platform will build on the existing IIIF format, the International Image Interoperability Framework. This format is used by some of the most important libraries and cultural heritage institutions in the world, therefore providing access to enormous collections of digital objects. As the name suggests, IIIF is mainly focused on displaying and annotating images. However, we fully endorse the IIIF-community’s vision to develop an overarching interoperability framework for other data types, including all kinds of textual data. Benefits of the format include the interoperability, the ease of sharing images and annotations without the need to exchange files, and its support for multilingual data. In the months leading up to the conference, we will evaluate the existing IIIFpowered digital libraries and research projects and how they deal with practices of co-creation, data cleaning and enrichment of (structural) metadata. OCR improvement will become vital, as digital textual analysis can only be performed well on high-quality textual data. A related challenge will be combining the various input formats and converting them to different output formats required for analysis. In our poster, we will present a summary of our experiences with and technical assessment of our previous Islandora installation, in addition to our survey of the existing corpus management solutions. As a way of conclusion, we will introduce the envisioned new version of the platform.

    This work presents the experimental design for recording Electroencephalography (EEG) signals in 20 test subjects submitted to Steady-state visually evoked potential (SSVEP). The stimuli were performed with frequencies of 7, 9, 11 and 13 Hz. Furthermore, the implementation of a classification system based on SSVEP-EEG signals from the occipital region of the brain obtained with the Emotiv EPOC device is presented. These data were used to train algorithms based on artificial intelligence in a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. Finally, this work demonstrates the possibility of classifying with times of up to 1.8 ms in embedded systems with low computational capacity. Copyright (C) 2021 The Authors.

    Under the framework of the FP-7 European MobiThin project, the present study addresses the issue of remote display representation for mobile thin client. The main issue is to design a compressing algorithm for heterogeneous content (text, graphics, image and video) with low-complex decoding. As a first step in this direction, we propose a novel software architecture, based on BiFS - Binary Format for Scenes (MPEG-4 Part 11). On the server side, the graphical content is parsed, converted and binary encoded into the BiFS format. This content is then streamed to the terminal, where it is played on a simple MPEG player. The viability of this solution is validated by comparing it to the most intensively used wired solutions, e.g. VNC - Virtual Network Computing.

    Introduction While publications of fMRI studies have flourished, it is increasingly recognized that progress in understanding human brain function will require integration of data across studies using meta-analyses. In general, results that do not reach statistical significance are less likely to be published and included in a meta-analysis. Meta-analyses of fMRI studies are prone to this publication bias when studies are excluded because they fail to show activation in specific regions. Further, some studies only report a limited amount of peak voxels that survive a statistical threshold resulting in an enormous loss of data. Coordinate-based toolboxes have been specifically developed to combine the available information of such studies in a meta-analysis. Potential publication bias then stems from two sources: exclusion of studies and missing voxel information within studies. In this study, we focus on the assessment of the first source of bias in coordinate-based meta-analyses. A measure of publication bias indicates the degree to which the analysis might be distorted and helps to interpret results. We propose an adaptation of the Fail-Safe N (FSN; Rosenthal, 1979). The FSN reflects the number of null studies, i.e. studies without activation in a target region, that can be added to an existing meta-analysis without altering the result for the target region. A large FSN indicates robustness of the effect against publication bias. On the other hand, in this context, a FSN that is too large indicates that a small amount of studies might drive the entire analysis. Method We simulated 1000 simplistic meta-analyses, each consisting of 3 studies with real activation in a target area (quadrant 1 in Figure 1) and up to 100 null studies with activation in the remaining 3 quadrants. We calculated the FSN as the number of null studies (with a maximum of 100) that can be added to the original meta-analysis of 3 studies without altering the results for the target area. Meta-analyses were conducted with ALE (Eickhoff et al., 2009; 2012; Turkeltaub et al., 2012). We computed the FSN using an uncorrected threshold (α = 0.001) and 2 versions of a False Discovery Rate (FDR) threshold (q = 0.05), FDR pID (which assumes independence or positive dependence between test statistics) and FDR pN (which makes no assumptions and is more conservative). We varied the average sample size n of the individual studies, from small (n≈10), to medium (n≈20) and large (n≈30). Results Results are summarised in Figure 2 and visually presented in Figure 3. We find a large difference in average FSN between the different thresholding methods. In case of uncorrected thresholding, the target region remains labeled as active while only 3% of the studies in the meta-analysis report activation at that location. Further, if the sample size of the individual studies in the meta-analysis increases, the FSN decreases. Conclusions The FSN varies largely across thresholding methods and sample sizes. Uncorrected thresholding allows for the analysis to be driven by a small amount of studies and is therefore counter-indicated. While a decreasing FSN with increasing sample size might be counterintuitive in terms of robustness, it indicates that the analysis is less prone to be driven by a small number of studies. Publication bias assessment methods can be a valuable add-on to existing toolboxes for interpretation of meta-analytic results. In future work, we will extend our research to other methods for the assessment of publication bias, such as the Egger Test (Egger et al., 1997) and test for excess of success (Francis, 2014).

    Authors: Daems, Joke; Chambers, Sally; Verbruggen, Christophe; Zere, Tecle;

    Authors: Acar, Freya; Seurinck, Ruth; Kühn, Simone; Moerkerke, Beatrijs;
