description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Other literature type , Article 2017 CroatiaPublisher:Croatian Society of Chemical Engineers/HDKI Authors: Bahareh Vafakish; Mohammad Barari;Bahareh Vafakish; Mohammad Barari;Biodiesel is an eco-friendly alternative diesel fuel prepared from domestic renewable resources i.e. vegetable oils and animal fats. In this process, biodiesel is produced by transesterification of triglycerides present in animal fat or vegetable oils, by displacing glycerine with a low molar mass alcohol using homogeneous or heterogeneous catalysis. The resulting ester, after mixing with diesel fuels, has physicochemical properties similar to those of conventional fuels. In this work, the batch process of biodiesel production has been studied using tallow fat as raw material with methanol and a heterogeneous catalyst. The quality of the produced biodiesel was evaluated by the determination of important properties, such as viscosity, flash point, cetane number, oxidation stability, glycerine content, acid value, etc. The produced biodiesel was found to demonstrate fuel properties within the ranges recommended by the ASTM D6751.

The results shows that storage modulus (G’) is obviously less than loss modulus (G”), which means viscous behaviour of bitumen is dominant, and anti-rutting factor (G* ⁄ sin δ) is markedly enhanced by star SBS than by linear SBS. The morphology indicated that star SBS improved the softening point more obviously, tending to form a cross-linked network in bitumen. As for linear SBS, it is dispersed in bitumen in the form of globules and enhances the ductility of binder.

A large quantity of fresh water is used in the system, thereby consuming a considerable amount of water and energy, as well as polluting the environment. This study aims to develop a closed process of shale oil recovery from the circulating washing water for the Fushun oil shale retorting plant. The process would increase oil yield and result in clean production. In this process, oil/water hydrocyclone groups were applied to decrease the oil content in circulating water and to simultaneously increase oil yield. The oil sludge was removed by the solid/liquid hydrocyclone groups effectively, thereby proving the smooth operation of the devices and pipes. As a result, the oil recovery rate has increased by 5.3 %, which corresponds to 230 tonnes a month.

K12 is more recommendable as foaming agent, when the mass fraction of K12 is around 0.1 %, the setting time and compressive strength meet the requirements of gypsum-based construction materials. In the meanwhile, the thermal conductivity is 0.18 W m–1 K–1, which can be used as a thermal insulation material. The hemihydrate mixtures obtained, allow the design of a new wall structure, which is more efficient as a thermal insulation system. The wall heat transfer coefficient test was carried out to compare thermal performance of two different thermal insulation systems. Compared with the thermal performance of a conventional system, the heat transfer coefficient of the new system was reduced by 5.6 %. Finally, energy-saving analysis of a building was carried out to compare the energy-saving effect of the conventional and new systems of building. The energy-savings of the building with the new system increased by almost 2 %, thus resulting in low energy consumption of the building.

The sediment is modified by inorganic cementitious material, polymer bonding agent, and jute fibre. The results show that the sediment is preliminarily consolidated when the mixture ratio of activated sediment/cementitious binder/sand is 65/25/10. Compressive strength and softening coefficient of stabilized earth bricks is further improved by polymer bonding agent and jute fibre. SEM images and EDS spectral analysis indicate that there is indeed synergy among inorganic hydration products, polymer network and jute fibre to strengthen the sediment.

Different amounts of cement in concrete were replaced by RHA and fly ash (FA), used as mineral admixtures, under the condition of a constant binder content. The compressive strength and temperature resistance were tested at different temperatures. The results show that mixing concrete with the appropriate amounts of RHA can improve its compressive strength. At 800 °C, the strength is 50 % greater than that of normal concrete (NC). Thus, RHA can improve the strength and temperature resistance of concrete. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. The finite element method was adopted to simulate the impacts of the rectangular solar panel encapsulation process parameters, such as the elastic modulus, the thickness of adhesive, and the curing temperature on the residual stress in the solar cell module. The results show that the residual stress in the solar cell module increases linearly with the increase in these three factors. The residual strain is consistent with that of the stress. The generation mechanism and distribution evolution of stress are discussed in detail. Both the thickness and the elastic modulus of the silicone rubber have significant impact on the residual stress. However, the influence of the curing temperature is less observable. Rezidualna deformacija slijedi rezidualno naprezanje. Detaljno su razmatrani mehanizam nastanka i tijek raspodjele naprezanja. Na ostatno naprezanje značajan je utjecaj debljine i modula elastičnosti silikonske gume, no manje je uočljivo djelovanje temperature očvršćivanja.

In this paper, composite microspheres with hierarchical porous structure were synthesized by an in situ technique using sepiolite, kaolin and pseudoboehmite as raw material. A novel fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalyst for maximizing light oil yield was prepared based on the composite materials. The catalyst was characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM, nitrogen adsorption-desorption techniques and tested in a bench FCC unit. The results indicated that the catalyst had more meso- and macropores and more acid sites than the reference catalyst, and thus can increase light oil yield by 1.31 %, while exhibiting better gasoline and coke selectivity. For the scientific management, timely repair and health monitoring of construction materials, as well as to ensure construction safety and prevent accidents, this paper investigates corrosion detection on construction materials based on piezoelectric sensors. At present, the commonly used corrosion detection methods include physical and electrochemical methods, but there are shortcomings such as large equipment area, low detection frequency, and complex operation. In this study an improved piezoelectric ultrasonic sensor was designed, which could not only detect the internal defects of buildings while not causing structural damage, but also realize continuous detection and enable qualitative and quantitative assessment. Corrosion detection of reinforced building materials with piezoelectric sensors is quick and accurate, which can find hidden dangers and provide a reliable basis for the safety of the buildings. Široka upotreba armiranih materijala u građevinarstvu povećava brigu oko njihove sigurnosti i trajnosti, a raste važnost detekcije korozije čelika. Detekcija korozije armiranih građevnih materijala piezoelektričnim senzorima brza je i precizna te se njome mogu otkriti skrivene opasnosti te pruža pouzdanu osnovu za provjeru sigurnosti građevina. description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Other literature type , Article 2017 CroatiaPublisher:Croatian Society of Chemical Engineers/HDKI Authors: Bahareh Vafakish; Mohammad Barari;Bahareh Vafakish; Mohammad Barari;Biodiesel is an eco-friendly alternative diesel fuel prepared from domestic renewable resources i.e. vegetable oils and animal fats.

The results showed that the morphology of FePO4 was amorphous and monoclinic at the treatment temperatures of 30 °C and 80 °C, respectively. LiFePO4/C prepared from two crystal precursors were both hemispherical hollow with an olivine crystal structure. LiFePO4/C produced from the monoclinic structured precursor exhibited smaller- sized morphology and better electrochemical performance, and its discharge capacities were 155.9 mA h g−1 and 141.8 mA h g−1 at the rates of 0.1 C and 1 C, respectively. After 150 cycles, its capacity retention was about 97.8 % and 95.1 % at 0.1 C and 1 C, respectively
