This report has been prepared by the “Bibliographical Data” Working Group of the DARIAH-ERIC consortium, which develops public digital research infrastructure for the arts and humanities. The Group consists of more than 30 members from 15 countries, most of whom are researchers and curators in the public sector who are engaged in bibliographical data (“bibliodata”) research and curation. This report is aimed at all active stakeholders in the humanities bibliodata landscape,especially public sector entities who may benefit from the Group’s insights and engage in cooperation to identify common interests, shape joint agendas, and achieve common goals. Those goals include creating shared infrastructure solutions, harmonising existing standards, and building partnerships to meet major challenges for contemporary bibliodata stakeholders. The bibliodata landscape is a dynamic ecosystem including the many stakeholders who produce, process, and use diverse bibliographical resources (datasets, tools, services). Following the digital revolution, this landscape has been reconfigured and a critical era is now upon us that demands closer investigation. This report analyses the state of the art by defining current bibliodata (Chapter 1), mapping the contemporary landscape (Chapter 2), identifying crucial stakeholder challenges and opportunities (Chapter 3), and offering recommendations for future cooperation (Chapter 4). This report presents an overview of issues in the bibliodata landscape. It is intended to provide a foundation for more detailed reports and case studies on the issues identified in this document.

The actor network is a living document that includes relevant information regarding the DARIAH-FI research infrastructure, such as the activities conducted so far (internal meetings, roadshows), the future of the consortium and details of the different WPs.

The DESIR project sets out to strengthen the sustainability of DARIAH and firmly establish it as a long-term leader and partner within arts and humanities communities. The project was designed to address six core infrastructural sustainability dimensions and one of these was dedicated to training and education, which is also one of the four pillars identified in the DARIAH Strategic Plan 2019-2026. In the framework of Work Package 7: Teaching, DESIR organised dedicated workshops in the six DARIAH accession countries (Czech Republic, Finland, Israel, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom) to introduce them to the DARIAH infrastructure and related services, and to develop methodological research skills. The topic of each workshop was decided by accession countries representatives according to the training needs of the national communities of researchers in the (Digital) Humanities. Training topics varied greatly: on the one hand, some workshops had the objective to introduce participants to specific methodological research skills; on the other hand, a different approach was used, and some events focused on the infrastructural role of training and education. Digital archives of memory institutions are typically concerned with the cataloguing of artefacts of artistic, historical, and cultural value. Recently, new forms of citizen participation in cultural heritage have emerged, producing a wealth of material spanning from visitors' experiential feedback on exhibitions and cultural artefacts, to digitally mediated interactions like the ones happening on social media platforms. Citizen curation is proposed in the context of the European project SPICE - Social Participation, Cohesion, and Inclusion through Cultural Engagement - as a methodology for producing, collecting, interpreting, and archiving people's responses to cultural objects, with the aim of favouring the emergence of multiple, sometimes conflicting viewpoints, and motivating users and memory institutions to reflect upon them. We argue that citizen curation urges to rethink the nature of computational infrastructures supporting data management of memory institutions, bringing novel challenges that include issues of distribution, authoritativeness, interdependence, privacy, and rights management. To approach these issues, we survey relevant literature towards a distributed, Linked Data infrastructure, with a focus on identifying the roles and requirements involved in such an infrastructure. We show how existing research can contribute significantly in facing the challenges raised by citizen curation, and discuss challenges and opportunities from the socio-technical standpoint.

The last chapter of Mark is a well-known enigma of New Testament textual criticism (NTTC): at least six different endings have been listed (e.g. Focant, 2006; Clivaz 2019a). We presumed that many useful manuscripts have not yet been studied, and therefore, should be explored. This led to significant primary results that were gradually documented during our research (Monier 2019, 2021 & 2022; Clivaz 2020, 2021). To support the harvest of results, we have created a VRE in four parts (Clivaz, 2019b): the main part of the MARK16 VRE holds 55 items visualized in a Manuscript Room application (https://mr-mark16.sib.swiss), with the code on Github (https://github.com/sib-swiss/dh-mr-mark16). Prepared in collaboration with the New Testament Virtual Manuscript Room (INTF, Münster), it provides folios of Mark 16 from ancient manuscripts in ten ancient languages. More than 20 international colleagues are MARK16 partners, and data have been nominally published in Nakala, the Huma-Num open public repository (https://mark16-snsf-prima-project.nakala.fr). The second part, Interpretations, presents scholarly individual opinions on Mark’s endings from the team and some colleagues (https://mark16-etalk.sib.swiss/search.php). It uses the tool eTalk, with the API on Github (https://github.com/sib-swiss/etalk-docker). The third part, Material, presents relevant material from the printed and digital cultures, like printed editions, articles, and also multimedia publications on Mark 16 (https://material-mark16.sib.swiss). The fourth part, forthcoming, Dataviz (https:// dataviz-mark16.sib.swiss) is building a geographical map in collaboration with the network Pelagios.

Abstract This progress article focuses on an overview of the potential and challenges of using contemporary Geographic Information System (GIS) applications for the visual rendering and analysis of textual spatial data. The case study is an ancient traveling narrative, Pausanias’s Description of Greece (Periegesis Hellados) which was written in the second century CE. First, we describe the process of converting the volumes to spatial data using a customized version of the open-source digital semantic annotation platform Recogito. Then the focus shifts to the implementation of collected and organized spatial data to a number of GIS applications: namely Google Maps, DARIAH Geo-Browser, Gephi, Palladio and ArcGIS. Through empirical experimentation with spatial data and their implementation in different platforms, our paper charts the ways in which contemporary GIS applications may be implemented to cast new light on ancient understandings of identity, space, and place.

The Henri Poincaré correspondence is a corpus of letters sent and received by this mathematician. The edition of this correspondence is a long-term project begun during the 1990s. Since 1999, a website is devoted to publish online this correspondence with digitized letters. In 2017, it has been decided to reforge this website using Omeka S. This content management system offers useful services but some user needs have led to the development of an RDFS infrastructure associated to it. Approximate and explained searches are managed thanks to SPARQL query transformations. A prototype for efficient RDF annotation of this corpus (and similar corpora) has been designed and implemented. For many libraries, mass digitisation has become routine. Digitisation centres are available in many places and there is a wealth of online platforms for the presentation of a wide variety of different media. Current projects from ETH Library reveal the directions in which the enormous potential harboured in these platforms and the millions of digital copies already produced may evolve. Research partnerships play just as important a role here as active user participation and intensified outreach. HAL Archive
