    Due to their long wavelengths, mechanical vibrations at low frequencies cannot easily be reduced in structures by using dissipative materials. Despite these difficulties, the attenuation of vibration at low frequencies remains an important concern. To solve this problem, several ways of research have been explored and have been applied to vibration energy pumping such as linear oscillators, composed of a mass, a spring, and a damper. Their resonance frequency must coincide with the resonant frequency of the structure that has to be attenuated. The absorbers that are oscillators with a nonlinear behavior constitute an interesting alternative. The response of the nonlinear oscillator allows for obtaining an attenuation of vibration over a broader frequency band than the response of linear oscillator, without splitting the resonance that has to be attenuated into two resonances. The work presented here is in the frame of the vibratory reduction, on a macro-scale, at low frequencies, for which the first structural modes are excited. A nonlinear absorber has been designed, experimentally realized and analyzed, modeled and experimentally identified to highlight the phenomenon of broadening the frequency band of the response. The effects of this absorber on the dynamic behavior of a cantilever beam have been numerically studied, using a model of the beam coupled to nonlinear absorbers. A reduced-model and its stochastic solver have also been developed. The results obtained show that the nonlinear absorber allows for obtaining an attenuation on the beam response, without splitting of the resonance that has to be attenuated; En raison de leurs grandes longueurs d'onde, les vibrations mécaniques en basses fréquences ne peuvent être facilement réduites dans les structures par l'utilisation de matériaux dissipatifs. Malgré ces difficultés, l'atténuation des vibrations en basses fréquences reste un enjeu important. Pour résoudre ce problème, différents axes de recherche ont été étudiés et ont été mis en application pour stocker et dissiper l'énergie vibratoire comme l'utilisation d'oscillateurs linéaires, composés d'une masse, d'un ressort et d'un amortisseur. Leur fréquence de résonance doit coïncider avec la fréquence de résonance de la structure que l'on veut atténuer. L'utilisation d'absorbeurs se comportant comme des oscillateurs ayant un comportement non linéaire est une alternative intéressante. En effet, grâce à un étalement fréquentiel de la réponse de l'oscillateur, celui-ci permet d'atténuer les vibrations de la structure sur une plus large bande de fréquence que ceux ayant un comportement linéaire, sans avoir de dédoublement de la résonance de la réponse en deux pics. Les travaux présentés ici se placent dans le cadre de la réduction vibratoire, à l'échelle macroscopique, en basses fréquences, pour lesquelles les premiers modes structuraux sont excités. Un absorbeur non linéaire a été conçu, réalisé et analysé expérimentalement, modélisé et identifié expérimentalement pour mettre en évidence le phénomène d'élargissement de la bande de fréquence de la réponse. Les effets de cet absorbeur sur le comportement dynamique d'une poutre console ont ensuite été numériquement étudiés, à partir d'un modèle de poutre couplée à des absorbeurs non linéaires. Un modèle réduit et son solveur stochastique ont été développés dans ce cadre. Les résultats ont exposé le fait que l'absorbeur non linéaire permet une atténuation de la réponse de la poutre, sans le dédoublement de la résonance

    Authors: Regragui, Younes;

    Récemment, nous avons observé un intérêt continu pour la modélisation et la simulation de la mobilité soit pour la mobilité tactique, soit pour la mobilité intelligente dans les systèmes de trafic. L'avènement rapide des réseaux ad hoc et leur capacité à fournir des applications sans fil efficaces ont encouragé les chercheurs à réfléchir à de nouvelles solutions et domaines d'application pour les réseaux tactiques et les systèmes de transport intelligents (STI). En tant que caractéristique essentielle des réseaux ad hoc, la mobilité des appareils et leur capacité à communiquer entre eux sans avoir besoin d'une infrastructure préétablie, basée sur un mécanisme d'auto-organisation, est considérée comme une caractéristique attrayante afin de construire des applications et protocoles. Par conséquent, le besoin de modèles de mobilité est l'un des éléments les plus importants pour permettre une évaluation, une analyse et une comparaison approfondies de ces applications et protocoles, avant qu'ils ne soient officiellement adoptés pour utilisation. Étant donné que la plupart des scénarios du monde réel sont basés sur la mobilité des nœuds, y compris les véhicules intelligents, les personnes et les drones, nous nous intéressons à l'étude de la modélisation de la mobilité, afin de rechercher, de la manière la plus réaliste possible, les comportements de mobilité efficaces pour des scénarios plus réalistes. Nous nous concentrons principalement sur la modélisation de la mobilité en tant que composant de base pour fournir une analyse efficace de la dynamique des nœuds dans les réseaux tactiques, et également pour comprendre les comportements des systèmes de trafic afin de concevoir des schémas de mobilité intelligents pour les systèmes de transport et les villes intelligentes. Nous avons commencé nos recherches en étudiant les comportements de mobilité pour en extraire leurs propriétés intrinsèques et pouvoir proposer des approches plus précises. Après cela, notre attention est orientée vers l'adoption des spécifications et des outils nécessaires pour concevoir les comportements de mobilité des réseaux tactiques, ainsi que pour réaliser des stratégies de mobilité intelligentes pour fournir des services efficaces dans les villes intelligentes. Dans cette thèse, nous nous intéressons à l'étude de certains modèles de mobilité de scénarios tactiques dans les réseaux mobiles ad hoc (MANET) et les réseaux de capteurs sans fil (WSN) afin de fournir des outils de simulation puissants pour étudier et analyser certains défis fréquemment rencontrés dans les réseaux sans fil, notamment changement de topologie, fiabilité des communications et efficacité énergétique. Nous nous sommes intéressés à la dynamique du réseau tactique et en particulier à la dynamique des soldats débarqués ce qui est très intéressant pour les guerres modernes. De plus, nous avons fourni des simulations approfondies de réseaux de capteurs basées sur des scénarios tactiques, pour mettre en évidence la relation entre la mobilité tactique et l'efficacité énergétique. Un autre sujet d'intérêt qui nous intéresse est la ville intelligente. Avant d'appréhender les spécificités de la mobilité intelligente dans les systèmes de circulation et les villes intelligentes, notre intérêt s'est d'abord orienté vers la modélisation de la mobilité basée sur des automates cellulaires, appelés modèles microscopiques. L'objectif de ce choix est de faire un premier pas vers la compréhension des systèmes de trafic routier avant de passer par la mobilité intelligente dans les villes intelligentes. Ensuite, notre attention se porte à la fois sur la mobilité et la communication en environnement véhiculaire appelés VANETs, ce qui nous permet d'étudier l'interaction en temps réel soit entre Véhicules (V2V) soit entre véhicules et infrastructures (V2I). Cette étude nous a permis d'envisager de nouvelles solutions aux problèmes liés aux STI, notamment les embouteillages, les embouteillages et les accidents. Nous abordons précisément à la fois le problème des embouteillages et les situations de collision aux carrefours. Le but d'une telle étude est d'améliorer la fluidité du trafic routier dans les systèmes de transport en profitant des nouvelles technologies sans fil pour immigrer vers la mobilité intelligente du trafic, qui est actuellement l'un des services les plus fondamentaux qui doivent être disponibles dans les villes intelligentes. Nous avons adopté des stratégies de coopération entre véhicules (V2V) et entre véhicules et infrastructures (V2I). En conséquence, nous avons mis en place une stratégie de planification en temps réel des trajectoires pour éviter les problèmes liés avec le trafic routier en réduisant les temps de trajet sur les segments de route. Cette stratégie de planification de trajectoires permet au conducteur d'obtenir des trajets courts en temps opportun sur la base des informations reçues à propos de l'état du trafic routier dans chaque segment de route. Dans le contexte des collisions aux intersections, nous avons développé une approche basée sur une communication périodique d'informations entre les véhicules qui s'approchent de l'intersection pour estimer et éviter les collisions à l'intersection. Recently, we have observed a continuous interest in mobility modeling and simulation either for tactical mobility or for intelligent mobility in traffic systems. The rapid advent of ad hoc networks and their ability to provide efficient wireless applications have encouraged researchers to think about new solutions and application fields for tactical networks and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). As an essential feature of ad hoc networks, the mobility of devices and their ability to communicate with each other without the need of a pre-established infrastructure, based on a self organization mechanism, is considered to be an attractive feature in order to build realistic applications and protocols. Therefore, the need for mobility models is one of the most important components to enable extensive evaluation, analysis, and comparison of such applications and protocols, before they are officially adopted for use. Since most of the scenarios in the real world are based on nodes mobility including, intelligent vehicles, persons and drones, we are interested in studying mobility modeling, in order to search, as realistically as possible, for the efficient mobility behaviors for such real-world scenarios. We focus principally on mobility modeling as a basic component to provide efficient analyzing of the dynamicity of nodes in tactical networks, and also to understand traffic systems behaviors in order to design intelligent mobility schemes for transportation systems and smart cities. We began our research by investigating the mobility behaviors to extract their intrinsic properties and to be able to propose more accurate approaches. After that, our attention is oriented to adopt specifications and tools needed to design mobility behaviors of tactical networks, as well as to realize intelligent mobility strategies for providing efficient services in smart cities. In this thesis, we are interested on studying some mobility models of tactical scenarios in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) in order to provide strong simulation tools for studying and analyzing some frequently encountered challenges in wireless networks, including topology change, communication reliability, and energy efficiency. We have been interested in the dynamicity of the tactical network and in particular in dismounted soldiers dynamic which is very interesting for modern wars. Moreover, we provided extensive simulations of sensor networks based on a tactical scenario, to highlight the relationship between tactical mobility and energy efficiency. Another subject of interest we are concerned with is smart city. Before we gain insight into the specificities of intelligent mobility in traffic systems and smart cities, our interest was oriented first to mobility modeling based on cellular automata, which are known as a microscopic model. The purpose behind this choice is to take a first step towards understanding traffic systems before going through intelligent mobility in smart cities. Then, our attention is directed towards both mobility and communication in vehicular environment called VANETs, which enables us to study the real-time interaction either between Vehicles (V2V) or either between vehicles and infrastructure (V2I). This study allowed us to consider new solutions of the problems related to ITS, including traffic congestion, traffic jams, and accidents. We address precisely both the problem of traffic congestion and collision situations at traffic intersections. The purpose of such a study is to improve traffic flow in transportation systems by profiting from new wireless technologies to immigrate towards smart traffic mobility, which is currently one of the most fundamental service that must be available in smart cities. We adopted cooperative strategies between vehicles (V2V) and between vehicles and infrastructure (V2I). Accordingly, we introduced a path planning strategy to avoid traffic problems by reducing travel times on-road segments. This developed path planning strategy allows the driver to get timely short paths based on received information about the traffic state in each road segment. In the context of intersection collisions, we developed an approach based on a periodic exchange of beacons between approaching vehicles to the intersection to estimate and to avoid collisions at the intersection.

    New wearables devices are introduced with novel options for observing personal transport and mobility in indoor and outdoor spaces. This hardware includes low cost MEMS sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, which provide continuously available data contrary to existing solutions that are based on radio signals. In order to mitigate the propagation of sensor errors in the position estimate, a pedestrian dead reckoning strategy is commonly adopted. The processing requires parametric step length models relying on some physiological parameters, displacement features and acceleration statistical properties. The coefficients of these models need frequent adjustment to limit cumulative errors induced by alteration of gait pattern. A large experimental database providing information about human locomotion variability is required for this calibration. However, the development of such database is costly in terms of time and effort, and several gait-affecting factors should be considered, which highly increases the number of measurement trials. In this thesis, we propose an alternative way of generating locomotion data that consists in simulating human gait motion under different conditions. In this scope, a 3D multibody system simulator based on parametric optimization technique was developed, and improvements were made throughout this work to get a more realistic walking motion prediction. Joint trajectories during one step were optimized by minimizing an energy criterion based on actuated torques. Validation with inertial data from overground walking experiments on one healthy subject showed an asymmetry in experimental acceleration signals from one step to the next. This suggests that asymmetric movement are likely to result in a step-level asymmetry of displacement features. This defeats the general assumption in PDR strategy: the presence of a device in hand does not impact the gait symmetry and all steps are identical for a fixed walking speed. This hypothesis is investigated with motion capture experiments with several subjects, designed to study the influence of a mass carried in hand on the walking gait cycles. Analysis of variance tests have shown that the presence of a mass in hand changes the gait symmetry at the step level, and then the proposed optimization process is extended to the stride level in order to allow observing asymmetric acceleration patterns. Overall, our simulator reproduces similar fundamental patterns of walking, and the same variation trend of acceleration related items found in experiments. However, it shows limitations when predicting acceleration data related to the hand, due to some modeling assumptions and numerical issues. Therefore, our simulation approach partially solves for the direct modeling problem in pedestrian navigation, and improvements on model assumptions are foreseen to predict acceleration signals over a complete gait cycle more reliably. Railway stations that concentrate starts and ends of train journeys structure most of the passenger lines operations. Indeed, rolling stock preparation operations (cleaning, trains coupling...) which are called shunting are scheduled there. These operations are essential to ensure service quality. These operations require train movement and parking. The thesis tackles an integration of shunting operation planning and capacity management in railway stations. The Generalized Train Unit Shunting Problem (G-TUSP) is introduced to consider this integration. In the G-TUSP we assign trains which arrive in a railway station to departures and parking tracks and we schedule their maintenance operations and their movements. These decisions are made to minimize departure delays, coupling and uncoupling operations and maintenance or departure cancellations. The G-TUSP has constraints due to rolling stock and infrastructure characteristics or related the nature of the operations carried out. The G-TUSP includes four sub-problems, often considered independently in literature. The thesis proposes optimization algorithms as decision support tool for shunting planners. A mixed integer linear programming formulation which considers a detailed representation of G-TUSP aspects is set. The formulation is tested on instances representing traffic at Metz-Ville station. Relevant results are obtained within an hour of computation. Then, we propose algorithms in which we consider different combinations for the integrated or sequential solutions of the G-TUSP sub-problems. In a thorough experimental analysis, based on Metz-Ville station instances, we study the contribution of each sub-problem to the difficulty of the G-TUSP, and we identify the best algorithm. This algorithm returns very satisfying results in less than 20 minutes.; Les gares ferroviaires concentrant les fins et les débuts de trajets des trains structurent l'essentiel de l'exploitation de lignes pour passagers. En effet, on y programme des opérations de préparation du matériel roulant (nettoyage, accouplement des trains. . . ) dites de « produit train » indispensables à la qualité de service. Ces opérations imposent des manoeuvres et nécessitent de garer des trains. Cette thèse aborde de manière intégrée la planification des opérations de produit train et la gestion de la capacité en gare. Elle introduit pour cela le Generalized Train Unit Shunting Problem (G-TUSP). Il s'agit plus précisément d'affecter des trains arrivant dans une gare à des départs et des voies de garage et d'ordonnancer leur maintenance et leurs manoeuvres. Ces décisions sont prises afin de minimiser les retards au départ, les accouplements et désacouplements de trains et les annulations de départ ou de maintenance. Le G-TUSP possède des contraintes liées à des caractéristiques techniques du matériel roulant et de l'infrastructure ainsi qu'à la nature des opérations réalisées. Le G-TUSP comporte quatre sous-problèmes, souvent traités indépendamment dans la littérature. Cette thèse propose des algorithmes d'optimisation comme outils d'aide à la décision pour les planificateurs du produit train. Une formulation en programme linéaire à variables mixtes est établie en considérant une représentation détaillée des aspects du G-TUSP. La formulation est testée sur des instances réelles de la gare Metz-Ville et des résultats pertinents sont obtenus en une heure de calcul. Nous proposons ensuite des algorithmes dans lesquels nous considérons différentes combinaisons d'approches séquentielles ou intégrées pour les sous-problèmes du G-TUSP. Dans une analyse expérimentale détaillée basée sur des instances de la gare de Metz-Ville, nous étudions la contribution de chaque sous-problème à la diffculté du G-TUSP et nous identifions le meilleur algorithme. Cet algorithme donne des résultats très satisfaisants en moins de vingt minutes.

    Authors: Dardé, Benjamin;

    Bentonite based materials are considered as a sealing material in radioactive waste disposal concepts because of their low permeability, radionuclide retention capacity and ability to swell upon hydration, thus filling technological gaps. Within this context, bentonite pellet mixtures have been studied owing to operational convenience. Pellets are laid in the galleries in a dry state as a granular assembly. The mixture progressively becomes more homogeneous upon hydration by the pore water of the host rock. Before homogenisation, the granular structure of the material controls the macroscopic behaviour of the mixture.The present work focuses on the experimental characterisation and numerical modelling of a mixture of bentonite pellet and crushed pellet (powder), in proportion 70/30 in dry mass, a candidate sealing material in the French concept of radioactive waste disposal. The proposition, implementation and validation of a new modelling framework, considering features such as the initial granular structure of the material or local heterogeneities of densities, is the main objective of this PhD work.The influence of the initial granular structure is evidenced by performing suction-controlled swelling pressure tests in the laboratory, using samples of various powder contents. From grain-level experimental characterisation, a simple model describing the hydromechanical behaviour of a pellet is proposed and implemented in a Discrete Element Method (DEM) code. Using DEM and the proposed model, aforementioned swelling pressure tests performed on samples containing no powder are satisfactorily simulated. The same method is used to model large granular assemblies of various pellet densities upon hydromechanical loadings. Relevant parameters involved in the macroscopic behaviour of pellet mixtures in “granular” state are identified from simulation results and constitutive laws are proposed to describe the hydromechanical behaviour of these materials using a continuum mechanics approach.The transition from “granular” state to “homogenised” state is described by criteria proposed from experimental results and data available in the literature and involves suction and relative volume fractions of pellet and powder. A modified version of the Barcelona Basic Model is proposed to model the material behaviour in “homogenised” state. The proposed model is implemented in the Finite Element Method (FEM) code BIL. Using a single set of parameters, all swelling pressure tests performed in the laboratory are satisfactorily reproduced in FEM simulations along the entire hydration path.The material behaviour upon hydration in constant volume condition is finally studied at a larger scale by performing mock-up imbibition tests, using various powder contents. Cells have a square section; a glass side and a camera allow the texture to be observed during hydration. The dominance of vapour transfers in the saturation process of the material, the influence and evolution of the granular structure upon hydration, and the influence of the powder content on the macroscopic response are notably identified. Transfer laws are proposed to describe the observed material behaviour in the mock-up tests and implemented in BIL.The realisation of larger scale coupled simulations using the proposed hydromechanical model is a perspective arising from this PhD work. Predictive simulations could be performed at the structure scale, considering relevant features such as the initial granular structure and local heterogeneities of density in the sealing plugs; Les matériaux à base de bentonite sont envisagés pour la réalisation des ouvrages de fermeture dans les concepts de stockage de déchets radioactifs. Dans ce contexte, les matériaux mis en place sous forme de mélanges de granules (pellets) de bentonite sont étudiés car ils présentent moins de contraintes d’installation comparés aux blocs préfabriqués. Les pellets sont disposés dans les galeries à l’état sec et forment un matériau granulaire. Le matériau est humidifié par l’eau issue de la roche encaissante et acquiert une texture homogène. Avant homogénéisation, le caractère granulaire du matériau contrôle son comportement.Ce travail se concentre sur la caractérisation expérimentale et la modélisation numérique d’un mélange de pellets et pellets concassés (poudre) de bentonite en proportion 70/30 en masse sèche, envisagé pour réaliser les ouvrages de fermeture dans le concept français de stockage de déchets radioactifs. La proposition, l’implémentation et la validation d’un modèle de comportement tenant compte de la nature granulaire initiale et d’éventuelles hétérogénéités locales de densité est l’objectif principal de ce travail.L’influence de la nature granulaire est mise en évidence par l’intermédiaire d’essais de pression de gonflement à succion contrôlée au laboratoire. Les essais sont réalisés sur des échantillons préparés à différentes teneurs en poudre. A partir d’une caractérisation expérimentale à l’échelle du pellet, un modèle simple décrivant le comportement hydromécanique du pellet est proposé et implémenté dans un code de calcul utilisant la méthode des Éléments Discrets (DEM). Les essais réalisés au laboratoire sur les échantillons sans poudre sont simulés par la DEM et le modèle proposé. Les résultats expérimentaux sont reproduits de manière satisfaisante. Cette méthode est utilisée pour simuler de larges assemblages granulaires de densités variées soumis à des sollicitations hydromécaniques. Les paramètres influençant le comportement macroscopique des assemblages de pellets à l’état « granulaire » sont identifiés à partir de ces simulations. Un ensemble de lois de comportement sont proposées pour modéliser le matériau comme un milieu continu.La transition de l'état granulaire à l’état homogène est décrite par des critères faisant intervenir la succion et les fractions volumiques relatives des pellets et de la poudre. Une version modifiée du Barcelona Basic Model est proposée pour modéliser le comportement du matériau à l’état « homogène ». Le modèle est implémenté dans le code de calcul par Éléments Finis (FEM) BIL. Les essais de pression de gonflement réalisés au laboratoire sur des échantillons contenant différentes teneurs en poudre sont reproduits de manière satisfaisante, sur l’ensemble du chemin d’humidification, en utilisant un unique jeu de paramètres.Le comportement du matériau au cours de l’humidification en conditions de volume constant est finalement étudié à plus grande échelle par la réalisation d’essais d’imbibition en modèle réduit au laboratoire, à différentes teneurs en poudre. Les cellules sont de section carrée avec une face vitrée. Une caméra permet l’observation de l’évolution de la texture du matériau au cours de l’humidification. La prédominance des transferts en phase vapeur dans le processus de saturation du matériau, l’influence et l’évolution de la structure granulaire au cours de l’humidification et l’influence de la teneur en poudre sur la réponse macroscopique du mélange sont mis en évidence. Des lois de transferts hydriques sont proposées à partir des résultats et observations expérimentales et implémentées dans le code BIL. La perspective principale de ce travail est la réalisation de simulations à plus grande échelle en utilisant le modèle développé. Ainsi, des problématiques inhérentes à l’utilisation des mélanges de pellets et poudre, notamment la nature granulaire initiale et les hétérogénéités locales de densité, pourront être prises en compte

    The objective of this thesis is to detect hidden broken pieces of the Internet. First, we study the deployment of Internet exchange points (IXPs) in Latin America and find that while some IXPs across the region have managed to proliferate, some countries have failed IXPs, i.e., no IXP at all, or the IXP has not succeeded to attract members. Second, we focus on the border gateway protocol (BGP), the routing protocol used on the Internet, and study whether ASes carry on BGP lies, i.e., if the forwarding routes through which packets actually flow on the Internet diverge from the AS-paths that ASes advertise on BGP. Wefind cases where the paths indeed mismatch. Finally, we study how traffic flows inside ASes and focus on the detection of forwarding detours, i.e., cases in which the forward ingroutes do not match the best available routes, according to the internal gateway protocol(IGP) in use. We reveal such forwarding detours in multiple ASes; L'objectif de cette thèse est de détecter des éléments défaillants d'Internet. Tout d'abord,nous étudions le déploiement des points d'échange Internet (IXP) en Amérique latine et constatons que certains pays sont en situation d'échec dans leur déploiement IXP, c'est-à-dire aucun IXP du tout, ou bien que l'IXP n'a pas réussi à attirer suffisamment de membres. Deuxièmement, nous étudions BGP, le protocole de routage utilisé sur Internet, et en particulier s'il existe des mensonges BGP, c’est à dire si les routes par lesquelles les paquets circulent réellement sur Internet divergent des chemins que les systèmes autonomes (AS) annoncent. Nous trouvons effectivement des cas où les chemins ne correspondent pas. Enfin, nous étudions comment le trafic circule à l'intérieur des AS et nous nous concentrons sur la détection des détours d'acheminement, c'est-à-dire les cas où les itinéraires d'acheminement ne correspondent pas aux meilleurs itinéraires disponibles, selon le protocole de routage utilisé. Nous mettons ainsi en évidence des détours dans plusieurs AS

    Authors: Domej, Gisela;

    Seismically induced slope deformation is a worldwide common phenomenon that poses an increasing and considerable threat to fast expanding urbanization, and a great number of catastrophic events throughout the past attest thereof. For this reason, displacement predictions allowing for proper slope surveillance became a major concern.Early attempts to relate slope failures to seismic parameters are of empirical nature and date back to the 1980s. Although having proven stable, these relations are frequently disturbed by site effects causing outliers in terms of smaller or greater displacements than expected.The first part of this thesis presents a newly build chronological database of 277 globally distributed seismically and non-seismically induced landslides. A comprehensive statistical analysis was conducted on the data of this database with the main result that – statistically seen – the average geometrical shapes of landslides differ only proportionally. The second part of the thesis is dedicated to a comparative slope stability analysis of the Diezma Landslide (Spain) by means of three methods: the limit-equilibrium based NEWMARK-Method (1965) in 2D under elasto-perfectly-plastic conditions; finite-difference analysis in the time domain with the code FLAC in 2D and 3D under visco-elasto-perfectly-plastic conditions; and modal recombination analysis in the frequency domain with the finite-element code CESAR-LCPC in 2D and 3D under visco-elastic conditions.Located in a seismically active region, the Diezma Landslide is likely to be affected by earthquakes and was therefore considered as a suitable model case. A broad analysis of expected displacements was conducted using eleven strong-motion seismic scenarios. Moreover, the thesis searches for potential relations between macro-seismic parameters of the applied earthquake scenarios and the predicted deformations obtained from the three methods. It appeared that – due to the functionality of the methods – results differ quantitatively as well as qualitatively, and so does their suitability. Major findings are: (a) Results from the three methods are of different orders of magnitude and, thus, can easily lead to over- or under-estimations of displacements; (b) Both numerical methods reveal a strong influence of the model-geometry on the predicted displacements, whereas a scenario-dependent slope behavior manifested itself only within the finite difference analysis; (c) The switch from 2D to 3D does not necessarily result in a similar performance in each dimension and results must be critically judged before further use; (d) The NEWMARK-Method (1965) has proven itself once more to be appropriate for first slope assessments but not for sophisticated evaluations of ground response to seismic shaking.; Les phénomènes d’instabilité générés par les séismes dans les pentes représentent un risque naturel majeur à l’échelle mondiale. Ce risque a, de plus, tendance à croître du fait d’une urbanisation croissante dans des zones à fort aléa, comme en témoignent de nombreux évènements catastrophique à travers le passé. Pour garantir la sécurité des personnes et des biens face à ce type d’aléa, il faut améliorer les prédictions des déplacements générés par les séismes dans les pentes.Les premiers travaux scientifiques visant à corréler les caractéristiques des instabilités dans les pentes aux paramètres sismiques sont de nature empirique et remontent aux années 1980. Ces méthodes ne permettent pas d’expliquer tous les mouvements de terrain observés à travers le monde, notamment lorsque les effets de site modifient sensiblement la distribution des mouvements dans les pentes et génèrent des déplacements plus grands ou plus petits que ceux prédits par les lois empiriques qui négligent les effets de site.La première partie de cette thèse présente une nouvelle base de données mondiale de 277 glissements de terrain d’origine sismique ou non. L’analyse statistique conduite sur les données de cette base a montré que la forme géométrique moyenne des glissements de terrain reste stable lorsque le volume des instabilités augmente.La deuxième partie de la thèse est dédiée à l’analyse de la stabilité du glissement de terrain de Diezma (Espagne) au moyen de trois méthodes : la Méthode de NEWMARK (1965) basée sur le principe de l’équilibre limite en 2D qui suppose des conditions elasto-parfaitement-plastiques ; l’analyse par différences finies dans le domaine temporel avec le code FLAC en 2D et en 3D qui suppose des conditions visco-elasto-parfaitement-plastiques ; et l’analyse par recombinaison modale dans le domaine fréquentiel avec le code CESAR-LCPC en 2D et en 3D qui suppose des conditions visco-élastiques.Situé dans une région sismiquement active, le glissement de terrain de Diezma est susceptible d’être affecté par des séismes. Une analyse des déplacements induits dans ce versant par onze signaux sismiques différents a été menée dans l’objectif d’établir des corrélations entre les paramètres macro-sismiques des scenarios sismiques appliqués et les déformations calculées par les trois méthodes.Les résultats montrent des différences marquées à la fois qualitatives et quantitatives. Les conclusions principales sont : (a) Les déplacements obtenus par les trois méthodes ont des ordres de grandeur différents et peuvent donc conduire à une surestimation ou à une sous-estimation des déplacements ; (b) Les deux méthodes numériques montrent que les déplacements sont fortement conditionnés par la géométrie des modèles ; seule la méthode par différences finies fait apparaître une réponse en termes de déplacements qui dépend du scénario sismique considéré; (c) Les résultats des simulations2D et 3D ne sont pas comparables ; des analyses complémentaires doivent encore être menées pour guider l’utilisateur dans le choix de la méthode la plus appropriée; (d) La Méthode de NEWMARK (1965), dont l’utilisation reste très répandue de nos jours, est tout à fait appropriée à l’étude de cas simples mais elle peut se révéler inexacte lorsque la structure géologique / topographique du versant conduit à un fort effet de site car ce dernier n’est pas pris en compte par cette méthode.

    La capacité axiale et latérale des pieux foncés dans du sable de Fontainebleau NE34 ont été étudié à l’aide d’essais sur modèles réduits centrifugés. L’effet de la méthode d’installation, de la densité et de la saturation du sable, du diamètre du pieu, de la géométrie de sa pointe (ouvert /fermé) et de sa rugosité sur la capacité axiale a été étudié. Une augmentation significative de la capacité en traction est observée dans les pieux foncés cycliquement, contrairement aux pieux foncés d’une manière monotone à 100 × g. La saturation du sable dense accélère la formation du bouchon lors de l'installation du pieu. L'augmentation de la rugosité du pieu et de la densité du sable accroissent significativement le frottement latéral des pieux testés. Dans tous les cas, les capacités de pieux sont comparées aux codes de dimensionnement des éoliennes offshore. Une étude paramétrique de l'effet de la méthode d'installation, de l'excentricité de la charge et de la saturation du sable sur la réponse latérale des pieux foncés est ensuite réalisée grâce à l'utilisation d'un pieu instrumentée. Le pieu est chargé d’une manière monotone puis un millier de cycles sont appliqués. Une nouvelle méthode a été développée pour la détermination des constantes d'intégration pour déterminer le profil de déplacement latéral du pieu. La méthode d'installation influence directement le comportement global (moment maximum et déplacement latéral) et local (courbes p-y) des pieux. L'effet de l'excentricité de la charge et de la saturation du sable sur le comportement des pieux est également présenté. Dans chaque cas, une comparaison avec les courbes p-y extraites du code DNVGL est réalisée. The axial and lateral capacity of piles jacked in Fontainebleau sand NE34 are studied using centrifuge modelling at 100×g. The effect of the installation method, sand density and saturation, pile diameter and pile tip geometry (open or closed-ended) and pile roughness on the axial capacity of piles are firstly studied. A significant increase in the tension capacity is observed in cyclically-jacked piles unlike piles monotonically jacked at 100×g. The saturation of dense sand accelerates plug formation during pile installation. The increase in pile roughness and sand density increases significantly the shaft resistance of the piles tested here. For all the cases, pile capacities are compared with the current design codes for offshore wind turbines. A parametric study of the effect of the installation method, load eccentricity and sand saturation on the lateral response of jacked piles is then realized using of an instrumented pile. The pile is loaded monotonically, then a thousand cycles are applied. A new methodology has been developed for determining of the constants needed in the integration procedure to identify the lateral displacement profile of the pile. The installation method influences directly the global (maximum moment and lateral displacement) and local behaviour (p-y curves) of the piles. The effect of the load eccentricity and sand saturation on the behaviour of the piles is also presented. In each case a comparison with the p-y curves extracted from the DNVGL code is realized.

    Transport industry being one the first CO2 emitters, there is an urgent need to decarbonize this sector, which could be achieved by the conjunction of the electrification of the vehicles and decarbonization of the electricity generation mix. In conjunction with increasing flexibility needs to support the introduction of Renewable Energy Sources, the development of Electric Vehicles could add new constraints for System Operators if charging process is not managed in a smart way.However, considering mobility requirements, there is a flexibility in the charging pattern of the vehicles, which could be used to offer flexibility services to System Operators, using smart-charging algorithms. Moreover, this flexibility could increase with the possibility to have reverse flow from the battery to the grid.Research focused mainly, during last years, on the design of algorithms to provide services with electric vehicles, taking into account mobility needs of users. In this thesis, we try to go beyond this design of algorithms, going through the different steps to elaborate a viable business model. We focus on the provision of one service – Frequency Containment Reserve – identified as the most valuable for Electric Vehicles equipped with bidirectional chargers.; Les ventes de Véhicules Electriques ont été en constante augmentation ces dix dernières années, stimulées par l’adoption de politique publique favorisant la décarbonation du secteur automobile. Dans un contexte d’accroissement des énergies renouvelables dans le mix énergétique, entraînant des besoins plus important en flexibilité, la diffusion massive des véhicules électriques pourrait constituer une nouvelle source de contrainte pour les gestionnaire de réseaux d'électricité si la recharge n’est pas gérée de manière intelligente.La gestion de la recharge des flottes de Véhicules Electriques peut aussi constituer une opportunité pour apporter cette flexibilité, en particulier si les véhicules sont équipés de chargeurs bidirectionnels, capables de réinjecter de l’électricité dans le système pour équilibrer les réseaux.La recherche s’est principalement intéressée à la conception d’algorithmes permettant cette recharge « intelligente », qui prennent en compte les besoins en mobilité des utilisateurs, tout en fournissant différents services de flexibilité.Cette thèse s’attache à aller au-delà de l’aspect algorithmique, en balayant l’ensemble des aspects qui permettraient d’aboutir à un modèle d’affaire viable, et en se focalisant sur la fourniture d’un type de service : la réserve primaire (Frequency Containment Reserve), qui constitue le service identifié comme ayant la plus forte valeur pour des flottes de Véhicules équipés de chargeurs bidirectionnels.

    Authors: Rigaut, Tristan;

    The development of energy storage paves the way to innovative methods to manage energy at a local scale. Micro grids are a novel kind of electrical grids with local production (renewable and waste energy), local demand, local storage and an Energy Management System (EMS). A wide literature already studies EMS implementations in micro grids but the produced methods are not exhaustively framed and compared. One of the main difficulty in micro grids energy management is to handle the different dynamics of electrical devices. Current variations are lighting fast, solar power changes quickly, different kind of storage react at different paces and batteries ageing is a slow process. We studya mathematical framework and algorithms, based on multistage stochastic optimization theory and Dynamic Programming, to model and solve energy management problems in micro grids with time decomposition methods. In the first part of this thesis, Contributions to time decomposition in multistage stochastic optimization, we present a general framework to decompose temporally large scale stochastic optimization problems into smaller subproblems. We then classify multiple existing resolution methods inside this framework. In the second part, Stochastic optimization of energy storage for management of micro grids, we compare different methods presented in the first part on realistic applications. First we control a battery and a ventilation in a subway station recovering subways braking energy with four different algorithms. Then we present how these results could be implemented on a real micro grid. We implement a fast online control method to stabilize the voltage in a simulated islanded DC micro grid connecting solar panels, an electrical load and two sorts of energy storage: a battery and a supercapacitor. Finally we apply our time decomposition framework to a problem of long term aging and energy management of a storage in a micro grid. This last chapter introduces a framework to model time decomposition of micro grids hierarchical control architectures, as well as two algorithms to solve temporally large scale stochastic optimization problems.In the third part, Softwares and experimentations, we present DynOpt.jl, a Julia language package developed to produce all the results of this thesis and more. Then we study an application of this software to the control of a real test bed: the energy aware temperature regulation of a real house in the equipment named "Sense City"; L'évolution du stockage d'énergie permet de développer des méthodes innovantes de gestion de l'énergie à une échelle locale. Les micro réseaux électriques sont une forme émergente de petits réseaux électriques munis de production locale, de stockage d'énergie et en particulier d'un système de gestion de l'énergie (EMS pour Energy Management System). De nombreuses études et recherches scientifiques ont été menées pour proposer diverses stratégies d'implémentation de ces EMS. Néanmoins il n'existe pas à ce jour d'articulation claire et formelle de ces méthodes permettant leur comparaison. L'une des principales difficultés pour les EMS, est la gestion des dynamiques des différents systèmes énergétiques. Les variations de courant vont à la vitesse de l'électron, la production d'énergie solaire photovoltaïque varie au gré des nuages et différentes technologies de stockages peuvent réagir plus ou moins vites à ces phénomènes imprévisibles. Nous étudions dans ce manuscrit, un formalisme mathématique et des algorithmes basés sur la théorie de l'optimisation stochastique multi-étapes et la Programmation Dynamique. Ce formalisme permet de modéliser et de résoudre des problèmes de décisions inter-temporelles en présence d'incertitudes, à l'aide de méthodes de décomposition temporelle que nous appliquons à des problèmes de gestion de l'énergie. Dans la première partie de cette thèse, "Contributions à la décomposition temporelle en optimisation stochastique multi-étapes", nous présentons le formalisme général que nous utilisons pour décomposer en temps les problèmes d'optimisation stochastique avec un grand nombre de pas de temps. Nous classifions ensuite différentes méthodes de contrôle optimal au sein de ce formalisme. Dans la seconde partie, "Optimisation stochastique de stockage d'énergie pour la gestion des micro réseaux", nous comparons différentes méthodes, introduites dans la première partie, sur des cas réels. Dans un premier temps, nous contrôlons une batterie ainsi que des ventilations dans une station de métro récupérant de l'énergie de freinage des trains, en comparant quatre algorithmes différents. Dans un second temps, nous montrons comment ces algorithmes pourraient être implémentés sur un système réel à l'aide d'une architecture de contrôle hiérarchique de micro réseaux électrique en courant continu. Le micro réseaux étudié connecte cette fois ci de l'énergie photovoltaïque à une batterie, une super-capacité et à une charge électrique. Enfin nous appliquons le formalisme de décomposition par blocs temporels présenté dans la première partie pour traiter un problème de gestion de charge de batterie mais aussi de son vieillissement long terme. Ce dernier chapitre introduit 2 algorithmes basés sur la décomposition par blocs temporels qui pourraient être utilisés pour le contrôle hiérarchique de micro réseaux ou les problèmes d'optimisation stochastique présentant un grand nombre de pas de temps. Dans la troisième et dernière partie, "Logiciels et expériences", nous présentons DynOpt.jl un paquet développé en langage Julia qui a permis de développer toutes les applications de cette thèse et bien d'autres. Nous étudions enfin l'utilisation de ce paquet dans un cas de pilotage réel de système énergétique : la gestion intelligente de la température dans une maison de l'équipement Sense City

    Authors: Lavazec, Déborah;

    Authors: Regragui, Younes;

    Authors: Dardé, Benjamin;

    Bentonite based materials are considered as a sealing material in radioactive waste disposal concepts because of their low permeability, radionuclide retention capacity and ability to swell upon hydration, thus filling technological gaps. Within this context, bentonite pellet mixtures have been studied owing to operational convenience. Pellets are laid in the galleries in a dry state as a granular assembly. The mixture progressively becomes more homogeneous upon hydration by the pore water of the host rock. Before homogenisation, the granular structure of the material controls the macroscopic behaviour of the mixture.The present work focuses on the experimental characterisation and numerical modelling of a mixture of bentonite pellet and crushed pellet (powder), in proportion 70/30 in dry mass, a candidate sealing material in the French concept of radioactive waste disposal. The proposition, implementation and validation of a new modelling framework, considering features such as the initial granular structure of the material or local heterogeneities of densities, is the main objective of this PhD work.The influence of the initial granular structure is evidenced by performing suction-controlled swelling pressure tests in the laboratory, using samples of various powder contents. From grain-level experimental characterisation, a simple model describing the hydromechanical behaviour of a pellet is proposed and implemented in a Discrete Element Method (DEM) code. Using DEM and the proposed model, aforementioned swelling pressure tests performed on samples containing no powder are satisfactorily simulated. The same method is used to model large granular assemblies of various pellet densities upon hydromechanical loadings. Relevant parameters involved in the macroscopic behaviour of pellet mixtures in “granular” state are identified from simulation results and constitutive laws are proposed to describe the hydromechanical behaviour of these materials using a continuum mechanics approach.The transition from “granular” state to “homogenised” state is described by criteria proposed from experimental results and data available in the literature and involves suction and relative volume fractions of pellet and powder. A modified version of the Barcelona Basic Model is proposed to model the material behaviour in “homogenised” state. The proposed model is implemented in the Finite Element Method (FEM) code BIL. Using a single set of parameters, all swelling pressure tests performed in the laboratory are satisfactorily reproduced in FEM simulations along the entire hydration path.The material behaviour upon hydration in constant volume condition is finally studied at a larger scale by performing mock-up imbibition tests, using various powder contents. Cells have a square section; a glass side and a camera allow the texture to be observed during hydration. The dominance of vapour transfers in the saturation process of the material, the influence and evolution of the granular structure upon hydration, and the influence of the powder content on the macroscopic response are notably identified. Transfer laws are proposed to describe the observed material behaviour in the mock-up tests and implemented in BIL.The realisation of larger scale coupled simulations using the proposed hydromechanical model is a perspective arising from this PhD work. Predictive simulations could be performed at the structure scale, considering relevant features such as the initial granular structure and local heterogeneities of density in the sealing plugs; Les matériaux à base de bentonite sont envisagés pour la réalisation des ouvrages de fermeture dans les concepts de stockage de déchets radioactifs. Dans ce contexte, les matériaux mis en place sous forme de mélanges de granules (pellets) de bentonite sont étudiés car ils présentent moins de contraintes d’installation comparés aux blocs préfabriqués. Les pellets sont disposés dans les galeries à l’état sec et forment un matériau granulaire. Le matériau est humidifié par l’eau issue de la roche encaissante et acquiert une texture homogène. Avant homogénéisation, le caractère granulaire du matériau contrôle son comportement.Ce travail se concentre sur la caractérisation expérimentale et la modélisation numérique d’un mélange de pellets et pellets concassés (poudre) de bentonite en proportion 70/30 en masse sèche, envisagé pour réaliser les ouvrages de fermeture dans le concept français de stockage de déchets radioactifs. La proposition, l’implémentation et la validation d’un modèle de comportement tenant compte de la nature granulaire initiale et d’éventuelles hétérogénéités locales de densité est l’objectif principal de ce travail.L’influence de la nature granulaire est mise en évidence par l’intermédiaire d’essais de pression de gonflement à succion contrôlée au laboratoire. Les essais sont réalisés sur des échantillons préparés à différentes teneurs en poudre. A partir d’une caractérisation expérimentale à l’échelle du pellet, un modèle simple décrivant le comportement hydromécanique du pellet est proposé et implémenté dans un code de calcul utilisant la méthode des Éléments Discrets (DEM). Les essais réalisés au laboratoire sur les échantillons sans poudre sont simulés par la DEM et le modèle proposé. Les résultats expérimentaux sont reproduits de manière satisfaisante. Cette méthode est utilisée pour simuler de larges assemblages granulaires de densités variées soumis à des sollicitations hydromécaniques. Les paramètres influençant le comportement macroscopique des assemblages de pellets à l’état « granulaire » sont identifiés à partir de ces simulations. Un ensemble de lois de comportement sont proposées pour modéliser le matériau comme un milieu continu.La transition de l'état granulaire à l’état homogène est décrite par des critères faisant intervenir la succion et les fractions volumiques relatives des pellets et de la poudre. Une version modifiée du Barcelona Basic Model est proposée pour modéliser le comportement du matériau à l’état « homogène ». Le modèle est implémenté dans le code de calcul par Éléments Finis (FEM) BIL. Les essais de pression de gonflement réalisés au laboratoire sur des échantillons contenant différentes teneurs en poudre sont reproduits de manière satisfaisante, sur l’ensemble du chemin d’humidification, en utilisant un unique jeu de paramètres.Le comportement du matériau au cours de l’humidification en conditions de volume constant est finalement étudié à plus grande échelle par la réalisation d’essais d’imbibition en modèle réduit au laboratoire, à différentes teneurs en poudre. Les cellules sont de section carrée avec une face vitrée. Une caméra permet l’observation de l’évolution de la texture du matériau au cours de l’humidification. La prédominance des transferts en phase vapeur dans le processus de saturation du matériau, l’influence et l’évolution de la structure granulaire au cours de l’humidification et l’influence de la teneur en poudre sur la réponse macroscopique du mélange sont mis en évidence. Des lois de transferts hydriques sont proposées à partir des résultats et observations expérimentales et implémentées dans le code BIL. La perspective principale de ce travail est la réalisation de simulations à plus grande échelle en utilisant le modèle développé. Ainsi, des problématiques inhérentes à l’utilisation des mélanges de pellets et poudre, notamment la nature granulaire initiale et les hétérogénéités locales de densité, pourront être prises en compte

    The objective of this thesis is to detect hidden broken pieces of the Internet. First, we study the deployment of Internet exchange points (IXPs) in Latin America and find that while some IXPs across the region have managed to proliferate, some countries have failed IXPs, i.e., no IXP at all, or the IXP has not succeeded to attract members. Second, we focus on the border gateway protocol (BGP), the routing protocol used on the Internet, and study whether ASes carry on BGP lies, i.e., if the forwarding routes through which packets actually flow on the Internet diverge from the AS-paths that ASes advertise on BGP. Wefind cases where the paths indeed mismatch. Finally, we study how traffic flows inside ASes and focus on the detection of forwarding detours, i.e., cases in which the forward ingroutes do not match the best available routes, according to the internal gateway protocol(IGP) in use. We reveal such forwarding detours in multiple ASes; L'objectif de cette thèse est de détecter des éléments défaillants d'Internet. Tout d'abord,nous étudions le déploiement des points d'échange Internet (IXP) en Amérique latine et constatons que certains pays sont en situation d'échec dans leur déploiement IXP, c'est-à-dire aucun IXP du tout, ou bien que l'IXP n'a pas réussi à attirer suffisamment de membres. Deuxièmement, nous étudions BGP, le protocole de routage utilisé sur Internet, et en particulier s'il existe des mensonges BGP, c’est à dire si les routes par lesquelles les paquets circulent réellement sur Internet divergent des chemins que les systèmes autonomes (AS) annoncent. Nous trouvons effectivement des cas où les chemins ne correspondent pas. Enfin, nous étudions comment le trafic circule à l'intérieur des AS et nous nous concentrons sur la détection des détours d'acheminement, c'est-à-dire les cas où les itinéraires d'acheminement ne correspondent pas aux meilleurs itinéraires disponibles, selon le protocole de routage utilisé. Nous mettons ainsi en évidence des détours dans plusieurs AS

    Authors: Domej, Gisela;

    Seismically induced slope deformation is a worldwide common phenomenon that poses an increasing and considerable threat to fast expanding urbanization, and a great number of catastrophic events throughout the past attest thereof. For this reason, displacement predictions allowing for proper slope surveillance became a major concern.Early attempts to relate slope failures to seismic parameters are of empirical nature and date back to the 1980s. Although having proven stable, these relations are frequently disturbed by site effects causing outliers in terms of smaller or greater displacements than expected.The first part of this thesis presents a newly build chronological database of 277 globally distributed seismically and non-seismically induced landslides. A comprehensive statistical analysis was conducted on the data of this database with the main result that – statistically seen – the average geometrical shapes of landslides differ only proportionally. The second part of the thesis is dedicated to a comparative slope stability analysis of the Diezma Landslide (Spain) by means of three methods: the limit-equilibrium based NEWMARK-Method (1965) in 2D under elasto-perfectly-plastic conditions; finite-difference analysis in the time domain with the code FLAC in 2D and 3D under visco-elasto-perfectly-plastic conditions; and modal recombination analysis in the frequency domain with the finite-element code CESAR-LCPC in 2D and 3D under visco-elastic conditions.Located in a seismically active region, the Diezma Landslide is likely to be affected by earthquakes and was therefore considered as a suitable model case. A broad analysis of expected displacements was conducted using eleven strong-motion seismic scenarios. Moreover, the thesis searches for potential relations between macro-seismic parameters of the applied earthquake scenarios and the predicted deformations obtained from the three methods. It appeared that – due to the functionality of the methods – results differ quantitatively as well as qualitatively, and so does their suitability. Major findings are: (a) Results from the three methods are of different orders of magnitude and, thus, can easily lead to over- or under-estimations of displacements; (b) Both numerical methods reveal a strong influence of the model-geometry on the predicted displacements, whereas a scenario-dependent slope behavior manifested itself only within the finite difference analysis; (c) The switch from 2D to 3D does not necessarily result in a similar performance in each dimension and results must be critically judged before further use; (d) The NEWMARK-Method (1965) has proven itself once more to be appropriate for first slope assessments but not for sophisticated evaluations of ground response to seismic shaking.; Les phénomènes d’instabilité générés par les séismes dans les pentes représentent un risque naturel majeur à l’échelle mondiale. Ce risque a, de plus, tendance à croître du fait d’une urbanisation croissante dans des zones à fort aléa, comme en témoignent de nombreux évènements catastrophique à travers le passé. Pour garantir la sécurité des personnes et des biens face à ce type d’aléa, il faut améliorer les prédictions des déplacements générés par les séismes dans les pentes.Les premiers travaux scientifiques visant à corréler les caractéristiques des instabilités dans les pentes aux paramètres sismiques sont de nature empirique et remontent aux années 1980. Ces méthodes ne permettent pas d’expliquer tous les mouvements de terrain observés à travers le monde, notamment lorsque les effets de site modifient sensiblement la distribution des mouvements dans les pentes et génèrent des déplacements plus grands ou plus petits que ceux prédits par les lois empiriques qui négligent les effets de site.La première partie de cette thèse présente une nouvelle base de données mondiale de 277 glissements de terrain d’origine sismique ou non. L’analyse statistique conduite sur les données de cette base a montré que la forme géométrique moyenne des glissements de terrain reste stable lorsque le volume des instabilités augmente.La deuxième partie de la thèse est dédiée à l’analyse de la stabilité du glissement de terrain de Diezma (Espagne) au moyen de trois méthodes : la Méthode de NEWMARK (1965) basée sur le principe de l’équilibre limite en 2D qui suppose des conditions elasto-parfaitement-plastiques ; l’analyse par différences finies dans le domaine temporel avec le code FLAC en 2D et en 3D qui suppose des conditions visco-elasto-parfaitement-plastiques ; et l’analyse par recombinaison modale dans le domaine fréquentiel avec le code CESAR-LCPC en 2D et en 3D qui suppose des conditions visco-élastiques.Situé dans une région sismiquement active, le glissement de terrain de Diezma est susceptible d’être affecté par des séismes. Une analyse des déplacements induits dans ce versant par onze signaux sismiques différents a été menée dans l’objectif d’établir des corrélations entre les paramètres macro-sismiques des scenarios sismiques appliqués et les déformations calculées par les trois méthodes.Les résultats montrent des différences marquées à la fois qualitatives et quantitatives. Les conclusions principales sont : (a) Les déplacements obtenus par les trois méthodes ont des ordres de grandeur différents et peuvent donc conduire à une surestimation ou à une sous-estimation des déplacements ; (b) Les deux méthodes numériques montrent que les déplacements sont fortement conditionnés par la géométrie des modèles ; seule la méthode par différences finies fait apparaître une réponse en termes de déplacements qui dépend du scénario sismique considéré; (c) Les résultats des simulations2D et 3D ne sont pas comparables ; des analyses complémentaires doivent encore être menées pour guider l’utilisateur dans le choix de la méthode la plus appropriée; (d) La Méthode de NEWMARK (1965), dont l’utilisation reste très répandue de nos jours, est tout à fait appropriée à l’étude de cas simples mais elle peut se révéler inexacte lorsque la structure géologique / topographique du versant conduit à un fort effet de site car ce dernier n’est pas pris en compte par cette méthode.

    La capacité axiale et latérale des pieux foncés dans du sable de Fontainebleau NE34 ont été étudié à l’aide d’essais sur modèles réduits centrifugés. L’effet de la méthode d’installation, de la densité et de la saturation du sable, du diamètre du pieu, de la géométrie de sa pointe (ouvert /fermé) et de sa rugosité sur la capacité axiale a été étudié. Une augmentation significative de la capacité en traction est observée dans les pieux foncés cycliquement, contrairement aux pieux foncés d’une manière monotone à 100 × g. La saturation du sable dense accélère la formation du bouchon lors de l'installation du pieu. L'augmentation de la rugosité du pieu et de la densité du sable accroissent significativement le frottement latéral des pieux testés. Dans tous les cas, les capacités de pieux sont comparées aux codes de dimensionnement des éoliennes offshore. Une étude paramétrique de l'effet de la méthode d'installation, de l'excentricité de la charge et de la saturation du sable sur la réponse latérale des pieux foncés est ensuite réalisée grâce à l'utilisation d'un pieu instrumentée. Le pieu est chargé d’une manière monotone puis un millier de cycles sont appliqués. Une nouvelle méthode a été développée pour la détermination des constantes d'intégration pour déterminer le profil de déplacement latéral du pieu. La méthode d'installation influence directement le comportement global (moment maximum et déplacement latéral) et local (courbes p-y) des pieux. L'effet de l'excentricité de la charge et de la saturation du sable sur le comportement des pieux est également présenté. Dans chaque cas, une comparaison avec les courbes p-y extraites du code DNVGL est réalisée. The axial and lateral capacity of piles jacked in Fontainebleau sand NE34 are studied using centrifuge modelling at 100×g. The effect of the installation method, sand density and saturation, pile diameter and pile tip geometry (open or closed-ended) and pile roughness on the axial capacity of piles are firstly studied. A significant increase in the tension capacity is observed in cyclically-jacked piles unlike piles monotonically jacked at 100×g. The saturation of dense sand accelerates plug formation during pile installation. The increase in pile roughness and sand density increases significantly the shaft resistance of the piles tested here. For all the cases, pile capacities are compared with the current design codes for offshore wind turbines. A parametric study of the effect of the installation method, load eccentricity and sand saturation on the lateral response of jacked piles is then realized using of an instrumented pile. The pile is loaded monotonically, then a thousand cycles are applied. A new methodology has been developed for determining of the constants needed in the integration procedure to identify the lateral displacement profile of the pile. The installation method influences directly the global (maximum moment and lateral displacement) and local behaviour (p-y curves) of the piles. The effect of the load eccentricity and sand saturation on the behaviour of the piles is also presented. In each case a comparison with the p-y curves extracted from the DNVGL code is realized.

    Transport industry being one the first CO2 emitters, there is an urgent need to decarbonize this sector, which could be achieved by the conjunction of the electrification of the vehicles and decarbonization of the electricity generation mix. In conjunction with increasing flexibility needs to support the introduction of Renewable Energy Sources, the development of Electric Vehicles could add new constraints for System Operators if charging process is not managed in a smart way.However, considering mobility requirements, there is a flexibility in the charging pattern of the vehicles, which could be used to offer flexibility services to System Operators, using smart-charging algorithms. Moreover, this flexibility could increase with the possibility to have reverse flow from the battery to the grid.Research focused mainly, during last years, on the design of algorithms to provide services with electric vehicles, taking into account mobility needs of users. In this thesis, we try to go beyond this design of algorithms, going through the different steps to elaborate a viable business model. We focus on the provision of one service – Frequency Containment Reserve – identified as the most valuable for Electric Vehicles equipped with bidirectional chargers.; Les ventes de Véhicules Electriques ont été en constante augmentation ces dix dernières années, stimulées par l’adoption de politique publique favorisant la décarbonation du secteur automobile. Dans un contexte d’accroissement des énergies renouvelables dans le mix énergétique, entraînant des besoins plus important en flexibilité, la diffusion massive des véhicules électriques pourrait constituer une nouvelle source de contrainte pour les gestionnaire de réseaux d'électricité si la recharge n’est pas gérée de manière intelligente.La gestion de la recharge des flottes de Véhicules Electriques peut aussi constituer une opportunité pour apporter cette flexibilité, en particulier si les véhicules sont équipés de chargeurs bidirectionnels, capables de réinjecter de l’électricité dans le système pour équilibrer les réseaux.La recherche s’est principalement intéressée à la conception d’algorithmes permettant cette recharge « intelligente », qui prennent en compte les besoins en mobilité des utilisateurs, tout en fournissant différents services de flexibilité.Cette thèse s’attache à aller au-delà de l’aspect algorithmique, en balayant l’ensemble des aspects qui permettraient d’aboutir à un modèle d’affaire viable, et en se focalisant sur la fourniture d’un type de service : la réserve primaire (Frequency Containment Reserve), qui constitue le service identifié comme ayant la plus forte valeur pour des flottes de Véhicules équipés de chargeurs bidirectionnels.

    Authors: Rigaut, Tristan;

    The development of energy storage paves the way to innovative methods to manage energy at a local scale. Micro grids are a novel kind of electrical grids with local production (renewable and waste energy), local demand, local storage and an Energy Management System (EMS). A wide literature already studies EMS implementations in micro grids but the produced methods are not exhaustively framed and compared. One of the main difficulty in micro grids energy management is to handle the different dynamics of electrical devices. Current variations are lighting fast, solar power changes quickly, different kind of storage react at different paces and batteries ageing is a slow process. We studya mathematical framework and algorithms, based on multistage stochastic optimization theory and Dynamic Programming, to model and solve energy management problems in micro grids with time decomposition methods. In the first part of this thesis, Contributions to time decomposition in multistage stochastic optimization, we present a general framework to decompose temporally large scale stochastic optimization problems into smaller subproblems. We then classify multiple existing resolution methods inside this framework. In the second part, Stochastic optimization of energy storage for management of micro grids, we compare different methods presented in the first part on realistic applications. First we control a battery and a ventilation in a subway station recovering subways braking energy with four different algorithms. Then we present how these results could be implemented on a real micro grid. We implement a fast online control method to stabilize the voltage in a simulated islanded DC micro grid connecting solar panels, an electrical load and two sorts of energy storage: a battery and a supercapacitor. Finally we apply our time decomposition framework to a problem of long term aging and energy management of a storage in a micro grid. This last chapter introduces a framework to model time decomposition of micro grids hierarchical control architectures, as well as two algorithms to solve temporally large scale stochastic optimization problems.In the third part, Softwares and experimentations, we present DynOpt.jl, a Julia language package developed to produce all the results of this thesis and more. Then we study an application of this software to the control of a real test bed: the energy aware temperature regulation of a real house in the equipment named "Sense City"; L'évolution du stockage d'énergie permet de développer des méthodes innovantes de gestion de l'énergie à une échelle locale. Les micro réseaux électriques sont une forme émergente de petits réseaux électriques munis de production locale, de stockage d'énergie et en particulier d'un système de gestion de l'énergie (EMS pour Energy Management System). De nombreuses études et recherches scientifiques ont été menées pour proposer diverses stratégies d'implémentation de ces EMS. Néanmoins il n'existe pas à ce jour d'articulation claire et formelle de ces méthodes permettant leur comparaison. L'une des principales difficultés pour les EMS, est la gestion des dynamiques des différents systèmes énergétiques. Les variations de courant vont à la vitesse de l'électron, la production d'énergie solaire photovoltaïque varie au gré des nuages et différentes technologies de stockages peuvent réagir plus ou moins vites à ces phénomènes imprévisibles. Nous étudions dans ce manuscrit, un formalisme mathématique et des algorithmes basés sur la théorie de l'optimisation stochastique multi-étapes et la Programmation Dynamique. Ce formalisme permet de modéliser et de résoudre des problèmes de décisions inter-temporelles en présence d'incertitudes, à l'aide de méthodes de décomposition temporelle que nous appliquons à des problèmes de gestion de l'énergie. Dans la première partie de cette thèse, "Contributions à la décomposition temporelle en optimisation stochastique multi-étapes", nous présentons le formalisme général que nous utilisons pour décomposer en temps les problèmes d'optimisation stochastique avec un grand nombre de pas de temps. Nous classifions ensuite différentes méthodes de contrôle optimal au sein de ce formalisme. Dans la seconde partie, "Optimisation stochastique de stockage d'énergie pour la gestion des micro réseaux", nous comparons différentes méthodes, introduites dans la première partie, sur des cas réels. Dans un premier temps, nous contrôlons une batterie ainsi que des ventilations dans une station de métro récupérant de l'énergie de freinage des trains, en comparant quatre algorithmes différents. Dans un second temps, nous montrons comment ces algorithmes pourraient être implémentés sur un système réel à l'aide d'une architecture de contrôle hiérarchique de micro réseaux électrique en courant continu. Le micro réseaux étudié connecte cette fois ci de l'énergie photovoltaïque à une batterie, une super-capacité et à une charge électrique. Enfin nous appliquons le formalisme de décomposition par blocs temporels présenté dans la première partie pour traiter un problème de gestion de charge de batterie mais aussi de son vieillissement long terme. Ce dernier chapitre introduit 2 algorithmes basés sur la décomposition par blocs temporels qui pourraient être utilisés pour le contrôle hiérarchique de micro réseaux ou les problèmes d'optimisation stochastique présentant un grand nombre de pas de temps. Dans la troisième et dernière partie, "Logiciels et expériences", nous présentons DynOpt.jl un paquet développé en langage Julia qui a permis de développer toutes les applications de cette thèse et bien d'autres. Nous étudions enfin l'utilisation de ce paquet dans un cas de pilotage réel de système énergétique : la gestion intelligente de la température dans une maison de l'équipement Sense City
