The IOW Data Portal was designed for the particular requirements of the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research (IOW). It is aimed at the management of historical and recent measurement of the IOW (to some extend of other data, too) and to provide them in a user-friendly way via the research tool ODIN (Oceanographic Database research with Interactive Navigation).

The Influenza Research Database (IRD) is a free, open, publicly-accessible resource funded by the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases through the Bioinformatics Resource Centers program. IRD provides a comprehensive, integrated database and analysis resource for influenza sequence, surveillance, and research data, including user-friendly interfaces for data retrieval, visualization, and comparative genomics analysis, together with personal login- protected ‘workbench’ spaces for saving data sets and analysis results. IRD integrates genomic, proteomic, immune epitope, and surveillance data from a variety of sources, including public databases, computational algorithms, external research groups, and the scientific literature.

This site provides access to the research outputs of Whitworth University. Users may set up RSS feeds to be alerted to new content. The interface is available in English.

Geochemical Earth Reference Model contains summary data on the geochemistry of all reservoirs in the Earth. All search results are customizable, allowing the user to sort and convert units and to download the data in a format of your choice with one click. This relational database only includes peer-reviewed data.

This site is an institutional repository providing access to digitised historical source material from the Bavarian State Library (Bayerische StaatsBibliothek), some dating back to the 1500s. Materials include original magazines, reports, illustrations, photos, dictionaries and encyclopaedias. Users may set up RSS feeds to be alerted to new content. The interface is available in German.

The WHOI Ship DataGrabber system provides the oceanographic community on-line access to underway ship data collected on the R/V Atlantis, Knorr, Oceanus, and Tioga (TBD). All the shipboard data is co-registered with the ship's GPS time and navigation systems. The system is built upon the methodology and technology developed for the Alvin Frame-Grabber and the JasonII Virtual Control Van system. A beta-version was deployed on the R/V Atlantis AT11-16 cruise in the summer of 2004 and the system has subsequently been installed on the R/V Knorr and Oceanus.

The Bacterial Diversity Metadatabase BacDive is the worldwide largest database for standardized bacterial phenotypic information. Its mission is to mobilize research data on strain level from internal files in culture collections (e.g. CABI, CIP, CCUG, DSMZ) as well as from primary literature and make it freely accessible. Today BacDive offers data on 93,254 bacterial and archaeal strains, including 19,313 type strains and thereby covers approx. 90% of the validly described species. Within over 600 data fields the topics taxonomy, morphology, physiology, origin, molecular data, and cultivation conditions are covered. The database offers systematic access to phenotypic data. BacDive thereby enables queries like "show me all strains that grow under certain conditions” by using the Advanced search or queries like “show me all strains isolated from a marine environment” by using the Isolation source search. With currently 15,357 API® tests for 27,634 strains, BacDive also offers the worldwide largest API® test collection, which can be queried using the API test finder tool.
